Had me a little nosey on others diaries, also some peoples own blogs etc that they are doing too. Very interesting and made me think about my own situation more and what I can/should be doing.

So I have done the following so far -
    • Taken stock of all food in feezer/cupboards and listed on board in kitchen to help us use up all the odd bits. So many random things to be used. Currently have some chicken and beef defrosting so I can cook up a couple of curries to put in fridge or freezer and in turn use up the remaining curry sauces. There are other things too so it'll all be used up in meals for as long as we can drag it out and refrain from shopping apart from bread/milk. Although do have a loaf in feezer!
    • I have decided to keep monies/savings simple. It works for some to have pots here and there but sadly not for me. It just doesn't compute for some reason and just not working for me soooooo I now have my current account, savings account and long term savings account. This way there are just three accounts to manage and easier all round for me. I will put the the majority of my savings/spare money into my normal savings account and my aim is eventually to get up to saving 10% of my earned income into my long term savings but I think for now it's going to be probably 2.5% of my earnings each month until I have more surplus cash. This will sit in long term savings and not be touched at all. It's for the future :)
    • Surveys - I need to get back into these and at the moment I am aiming to find out all my old passwords etc, those i've signed up to and I will then aim to do at least one a day. Hopefully vouchers/income will boost savings/xmas spends.
    • Gym - I will be cancelling this after our wedding. It's going really well but I think the £31 per month will be better used elsewhere. I can continue with a swim or something once a week (off peak) and maybe the odd class but I think once the wedding is done I can use the money for other things and also the weather will be warmer come april so i'll go for more runs/walks. Nicer to be outdoors anyway :)
So there, a few things that I have done/made decisions upon and all that I am very much happy about! :D
  • Doing well, since taking stock I haven't brought any food etc and we have been having mix match dinners from what we have in freezer. Nearly all the meat has been used up. :T I have batched cooked a chicken curry last night and currently have burgers for OH and salmon for me defrosting for our tea this evening - not sure what we'll have with it but i'll be sure to find something. I feel good doing this :)

Went to the gym last night, combat class. Have a circuits class this evening - ouch!

Still have over £200 in savings and money in account and it's payday next weeks so all in all this month has been productive. Just need to keep it up.

Aiming to get cupboards as clear as possible and then do a food shop based upon meal planning so that we can cut costs on food, an area we spend a lot of time not focusing on. That's the plan anyway!

No spend day yesterday too :)

Sounds like you are getting organised.

I find it easier to keep all my savings in the same place too and they then get used for whatever they need to be used for.

Indeedy, I think it's a combination of having the wedding so near and wanting to clear this debt/get organised....perhaps found my mojo that's been waiting a long while to get out :p

I'm glad i'm not the only one re savings, I have tried and tired to have pots, budgets for various costs but it just doesn't work for me and I end up failing. Keeping it simple and dipping in as an when required, I hope, is the way forward for me. I do have a isa which will be for long term savings and never touched but as you can imagine it'll be an account that I won't put too much into just a % of my income until such times a debts are gone. Still it's better than nothing I say!

Good day had yesterday, worked, did circuits class and then we had dinner at OH's parents and it was the first time in ages I enjoyed it as there was no negative talk about wedding or demands! Finally!!! I think it's so near now that there is nothing left to go on about, everything is set in place so it's just a case of confirming things. That and basically MIL2B has got her way in most things as OH and I just couldn't be bothered with the fall out  We just can't wait to be married and be on our honeymoon just the two of us, Mr & Mrs :)

Using up food is going so well. I'm currently cooking the salmon that I defrosted yesterday as we didn't eat at home. I will put this with pasta and pesto at some point later for couple of meals, maybe add some peas. OH will eat burgers for lunch. We are out at friends for dinner so no meals this evening.

OH's parents gave us a sauce for sausage casserole as we had it for tea at theirs and it was yummy. We have two packets of sausages to get through in freezer, perhaps a fry up tom me thinks!! ;-)

Hope everyone is having lovely weekends i'm working overtime....win win situation all round! :)

Glad that things are calming down with the wedding demands, I am sure it will turn out to be a lovely day.

Sounds like you are doing well with the using up food as well, bet we have loads that needs using up.

  • Gosh, not been on for ages. Bad me! Just been very busy.

Thanks for post Kel, sadly no - sister has decided not to come to wedding despite always being invited, she has issue with not being a bridesmaid. This is her issue and I can't now let such things upset me, it's too near to one of the most special and important days of mine and OH's lives - that's now what's important to me. I refuse to deal with others dramas or dramatic behaviour - we're all supposed to be adults. Enough said.

Need to get back on here as felt far more organised when posting regularly.

    Will pop back later x

    Oh Choc what a pain!

I can never understand why people sometimes think they have a right to certain roles in someones wedding! :( We had a slight debate over which of my 2 cousins i was having as a bridesmaid. The decision as made for me in the end. One cousin hadn't been a bridesmaid before so i would have had her.....but then that same cousin hadnt booked to come to Cyprus yet and my dresses needed 3 months to make. So it had to be the other cousin!!

I hope your sister calms down and realises it is your special day and that she would regret missing it! :(

    Families eh? !

Families indeed Kel, hey ho not going to give it another thought!

Hope everyone is well. Bit under weather myself hence not been on much. Started a weeks course of antibiotics so hopefully be feeling much better by end of this week.

Nothing exciting money wise - trying to spend as little as possible but don't think that's an option 10wks before wedding!

    Roll on 28th April :j:D:j:D:j:D
