It's because it isn't costing her. It's costing you instead. And obviously you'll feel obliged to bring a present or something, or run her around somewhere. More win for her, more lose for you.

She actually doesn't fail to see at all why you can't afford to. She just knows from past experience that if she pushes and pushes, you'll buckle. Your cost is not her problem.

Of course if it was costing *her*, she'd be telling you that you were the spawn of Satan's sweaty incontinence underwear for even having the thought of a day off.

    For her it is.
I had to step away from the computer before I threw it. Instead I ended up fitting the glazing film to the 2nd of 3 windows, over the top of the tin foil instead of under it, so it's not on properly but it'll have to do.

I did do the best reply to my sister ever, "if you pay me £134 for the lost holiday, then sure I'll come visit". Funny enough she didn't reply to that one.

Hi, bit stresed out too as I was hoping to get on here straight from work but have only just sat down and now feel too tired to start plonking away at the keys :(

Fab news on the job offer. I'm sure you've done the maths but I can appreciate that even if your points don't convert to as much cash as your previous job, you will feel better for the change.

This could also work in your favour (if the points value varies each month) in terms of letting your sis know that things are tighter for you now you aren't earning as much;) She doesn't need to know it'll probably be the same, if not more......Well done for not just saying yes to sis btw, surely you can see the baby on a day off/weekend?

Had a right result today...DH left his season ticket on the train last Thurs. He bought a daily ticket Fri (Using his Nat Rail compensation vouchers) while waiting to see if it was handed in..... It wasn't handed in but as he's on a system somewhere, he was able to pay £20 for a replacement season ticket/photocard (also using comepnsation vouchers) Now he's sorted the season ticket he's had the £46 daily ticket refunded in cold, hard cash!! :money:

Have a good rest of the eve. I'll try to update my diary with DH's packed luch concoctions but as I have kids' lunches and shower still on my list, I might just bail, sorry:o
Everything is ok in the end. If it's not ok, then it's not the end:)

Don't worry about being stressed out and not having time, we all have lives to live.
I've just been wondering whether I'm doing the correct thing by paying Vanquis in full each month or whether I should be working towards clearing this. So I snowballed, one with 0% interest for Vanquis as that's what it is by clearing it in full, and another snowball with vanquis paying the minimum. It'll cost me less to carry on clearing vanquis and clear the others first. Quite pleased that I've chosen the correct way :)

I'm finding the calendar a good help, I like coming home and writing 'NSD' on it :) not tomorrow though as climbing is this weeks purse money spend.

I've cheered up a bit now from being grouchy earlier. I'm loving Sherlock so clever and captivating.

This is the year for being cruel to be kind I think, I'm doing it for myself and £10 lent to someone is £10 + interest that I have to pay to a creditor. So many LBMs recently haha.

    :T:T :j

This has only just sunk in for me too. Am getting sulky comments from the family as am refusing to trek up and down the country every few weeks, after I worked out it was costing me an average of £80 a month plus a day's leave every time. I don't really enjoy it, they don't appear to appreciate it and they can always find money for petrol around the country for reasons other than to visit me, so have decided this year I will only go twice unless there are very specific reasons for an extra trip. Otherwise they can visit me or we can meet somewhere in the middle. I suddenly realised I was depriving myself of things I really love to reduce the credit card which I was running back up on petrol doing trips I don't want to do.

Just checked Vanquis and the refund of £34 from next and so far £2 from CK has gone back onto my card. I've just paid Freemans another £10 (need £30 on vanquis for remaining 2 veg boxes). I'm getting to 25% slowly :)

Forgot whether I'd said thank you to everyone for the congratulations on the new job, thank you :)

Not a NSD today, bought a veggie pasta microwave meal from Mr T for lunch today as I was in too foul a mood for cooking last night and my tinned toms are at my parents 100 miles away. I will be bringing them back this week along with the baked beans! Anyway, pasta dish was £2.18 and I found a 1p coin for the pot on the floor whilst in there.

I've got one veg box to allocate grocery funds to and 16 days left until the next months grocery budget, it really looks like I'm going to be able to stick to it. I know I've only been doing it since the 5th but I have faith :)

Feeling a bit blue today though and OH noticed on the phone, can hardly tell him it's because he's going to Canada though. I've decided if I get my bonus and it's more than £600 then I'll put £600 towards flights (will keep in savings) then anything extra goes to debts. If it's less then it'll all go towards debts and I'll have to say I can't afford to go. My priority has to be clearing the debt so I can start on saving for a house. In the long-run this will benefit both myself and my OH, although I'm feeling blue at the thought of not seeing him for over 4 months :(

As Riverford charge me for using a card and I can't be certain how much this is going to be each week, I'm going to update my GC amount in my signature when they take a payment. I've just added 2 tubs of yoghurt to my order so I can have brekkie of museli + yoghurt next week mmmm. Two tubs lasts me just over a week and it's cheaper than the one I get from Mr T as that's 2 for £3 at 450g whereas this is £1.59 each at 475g ;)

I finally managed to remember to bring the iPod in today to check how much my sister has left to pay me, it's £1520 plus £50 so £1570 in total. I must remember this everytime she asks me to do something that costs me not her, or when she asks to borrow money as that's half my debt! If I had that I would only have Wescott left to pay at 0% so she's costing me money!

OH brought up this morning that he can lend me money if I need it as his student loan has come in. That actually made me angry. I think it came up because I said I had £18 in my purse and was paying £12 for rock climbing this evening and buying my lunch. I had to reiterate to him that the reason why I have £18 is because I'm working to a budget and trying not to spend more than my purse money on things I fancy. I don't think he's quite on the same wavelength with it as I am just yet. I'm really looking forward to seeing my total drop to below £3750 on payday :) it will happen!

  • Hi kerri you're sounding a lot more positive today :)

Regarding your job - well done, even if the pay is slightly less overall, you can't buy job satisfaction! Let's hope you get your bonus now so you can visit oh. If not you'll have to both get on skype perhaps and chat that way? My DH is often away, last long stretch was just shy of 7 months so i know how upsetting it is, just remember to keep yourself busy and go out and see friends lots etc (is free too ;) ) and it will go much quicker xx

Aw DFW we can be glum together when they're both away.

I have to post about this moneysaving thing I've just read about from the grocery challenge, it's called 2nd purse. You stockpile stuff when it's on offer, then pay yourself when you use it. I'm going to do this and keep track of my stockpile on the 2nd or 3rd post like I do my debts and spending :) It's a great way to reduce grocery spends and you get to use the extra money saved as treat money :) Will have to make myself a new purse though, luckily I have fabric and a zip ;)

    RANT!!!
Just found another part of this stupid perl script that my manager gave me wrong advice on, tw@ so cross. He's also just tried to get me to find the answer to why he can't set an env variable in vb which he could easily goggle himself. I opened goggle, told him he needs to DIM the variable, he ignored me, I went back to perl and thought "screw him!" Going to call a meeting with proper manager tomorrow to hand in notice *claps*
    end Rant

Have convinced my friend to do a big long walk Thursday evening around Hyde Park. He needs to lose weight and it's good to get out in the fresh air :)

This evening I'm going to spend £12 on rock climbing with work. I'm being a "ropey" as I am a member of the climbing wall, which means I can supervise two others :) Should be a good evening. Not sure what I'll do for tea, I have a feeling it's going to be pasta

Just added it all up, I've made £88 from surveys whilst watching television :)

Take photo of sister's face, open in editing package, add "IOU £1570" in big red font across her forehead, save as her photo on your phone.

That way you'll remember every time she rings. :rotfl:

That's because you're wrong. You actually need to un-DIM him, and once he's not so DIM, he'll find stuff easier...
