Spending is officially out of control today. I have no idea how much I've spent, although I know what I have spent if that's any help?
pret hot chocolate (I was cold)
    pret smoothie (it looked nice)
pret gronala + yoghurt (I think this was £1.85)
pret snowman (I know this was 99p)

Lunch was a christmas sarnie from m&s without looking at price label. Oh and I bought the OH an anti-odorant as a xmas pressie, but I did get 25% off because checked the boots points machine, so this cost me £6.09

I will try to find my receipts later. I really, really want to buy a food dehydrator so I can make lovely yummy raw food things. But it's going to cost me £200. I should wait to buy this right? I can't work out how much it's going to save me, because I won't throw out fruit+veg anymore

Hmmm £29.95 has just gone on buying a 40ft x 20ft tarpaulin for the allotment, I need to cover a whole load of weeds or it'll be a nightmare to grow stuff in spring. Last purchase I promise.

£12.56 is going on a veg box that's being delivered on Thursday. I'm going to use this to make a whole batch of soups and yummy things that can be frozen. It includes onions, carrots, potatos, leeks (so already leek and potato soup there). Curly cale (no idea how to cook), savoy cabbage, portabello mushrooms, swede

Thanks, I'm currently staring blankly at the excalibur 9 tray food dehydrator and deciding whether to buy it or not though. I waste a lot of food because I don't eat it quick enough. I'm also wanting to change my diet as it's very, very bad and if I buy it I'll be able to make crackers and fruit leathers from fruit & vegetables lowering the amount I need to go food shopping, therefore lowering my food bill overall. It's a bit of a spend now, save later, or save now, spend later conundrum. It doesn't make sense to get a smaller one as the price differences aren't great enough and I'll need a larger one when the veg comes in the spring from the allotment.

Going to have a big think about it on my way to Guys hospital. The shelf 6ft above my bed fell down last night whilst I was asleep and a box full of dvd's landed on my side so I need to go to the walk-in centre this evening to make sure I'm ok. I might be being a hypocondriac but my side really hurts and as I was asleep I'm not sure how it fell or what the damage might be. Should hopefully just be a bit bruised. My friend has agreed to come with me though, so I won't be on my own.

Oh and I've been invited to a vegan potluck on Wednesday, so need to think about something to make for that.

    Will assess food dehydrator later.

hmmm im not convinced with the food hydrator.. i think you could get sick of this :-S I wonder if you could make jams etc.. chop fruit and freeze.. you also wont need the veg box anymore. Would anyone in the household be prepared to pay for some fresh veggies aswell? dont think i would spend 200 on this xx Poor things with the dvds.. im sure they are attacking you before they are sold on??lol bless ya .. hope yr ok :)
  • hope your side is OK Kerri - how many DVDs are we talking here?

Am not entirely convinced about dehydrator either (and I speak as someone with a kitchen full of gadgets). What about if you try oven drying for a bit first?

Do you eat fruit leathers anyway? How much do you like them? You haven't said how much food you throw away, but if it's a lot, and if you're going to suck them dry, you'd better like dried fruit *a lot* to make up the money.

Wrong. Kinetic energy kills. You are right to get it looked at.

Never had a vegan before - are they tasty? ;)

I've decided to wait until my bonus comes in to buy the dehydrator, you can rehydrate food once you've dehydrated and it'll be a way of storing my allotment harvest for a year so I can eat it when it's out of season and won't waste any. I don't need a dehydrator right this very moment, I need to pay off my debt and £200 on something that will only come into use when I am growing more than I can eat isn't very clever is it.

Thank you cherry, rosa, z for your kind words.
Went to A&E for 3hrs as the walk in centre was closed. I've got bruised ribs and stomach, if I cough up blood then go to the GP, other than that pain killers. It was 15 dvds in a box, one of those black & white stripey ones from ickyea if you know the ones I mean?

I'm going back to my £20 a week spending budget, since I took my eye off the prize I've gone astray. Will allow petrol on top of this, but other than that, no spendy kerri! How will I ever get my bed otherwise?

Found 1p on the floor today at livvy street station though and journey to work is about 30mins with some amazing views across the city :)

z I have no idea how tasty vegans are, but I shall make some dairy/meat free food to take with me.

rosa I might give oven drying a go, never tried that before and could be fun now I have a big kitchen to play with.

cherry the dvd's aren't worth selling and I only ever bought films I am happy to watch over and over again. I won't need a veg box when the summer comes and I've got some nice veggies grown all by myself from the allotment.

I really have had a spending high from this ppi refund coming in, how do you guys manage to keep it under control. I seem to suddenly decide on a million things I need to have right now and all thoughts of saving go out of the window :(
