Afternoon fellow frugalers! Had my first of many NSD yesterday...looks like it will be my second today! At my gfs house and we are going out to shop soon but I have left my wallet at home on purpose so I cannot spend a penny. Due a phone upgrade in febuary...tempted to go for a cheap one at 15 quid a month an save myself 360 pound a year compared with what I am paying now! Meant to be 40 but they always take out nearer 45 its a joke! I phoned and questioned why but didn't get anywhere so hung up.
Need a couple of ideas for frugal things to do at the weekends now, staying off the drink as much as possible! Hard when whatever mates do its always spending money yet they love to moan they are skint. They will be on this site in a few years with crippling debts when I'm debt free with savings and a mortgage to pay! Really looking forward to buying my own place even though I know we will spend so much kitting it out seeing as we have like nothing just now! Bedroom furniture and that's it. So will need help on here nearer the time.Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.

went shopping in lidl earlier nice cheap wee shop at £12ish that included 30 toilet rolls, i can see alot of nsd coming up gonna be an expensive month
rictus123 furniture doesn't have to be that expensive take anything given to you and replace it at a later date, check in local chairty shops (one near us has a huge warehouse full of furniture) join local selling pages on facebook, and join freecycle, and remeber you really don't need much to start with aslong as you have somewhere to sleep, sit and can cook everything else can waitDEC GC £463.67/£450

xxI hope things get sorted soon, maybe worth a visit to CAB? xStegarSaving wrote: »Is there a big difference shopping at Aldi and Lidl compared to shopping at say Asda? I started shopping at Aldi and found it to be pretty good once I got used to what goods are worth buying and what to avoid, but still ended up having to shop elsewhere to get everything they didn't sell at Aldi.
Have people switched to Aldi and Lidl and found it makes a big difference to their shopping bills?

I was scared the wind would take my roof off or blow a window in and all my junk would b scattered all around the Streets!
Good luck with urn partners job, try and not worry too much about it, u can't change the outcome with worry, so why waste the time (easier said than done! ) plus the stress isn't good for u or bump.Living Simply, not simply living.Weight Loss - 5b/55lb

Back to work tomorrow for what I expect to be one very long 12hr day!
Decided that-
I WILL NOT go to the coffee shop and spend £1 on a latte - so went to Al*i and bought a pack of 10 mocha sachets for less than £1.50. I intend to take 2 to work each day. So a little bit of money saving there.
I WILL NOT spend £2.22 on a tuna sarni again - so, have made up a packed lunch list, stuff I can take to work and it not end up been the same every day. I do like a bit of variety!
Also bought a treat size bag of chocs, again to take to work. I tend to get to 4pm and realize that I still have 5 hrs to go, a that point I need a 'treat'. Snack machine minimum spend is 60p, got a bag of 20 'treats' for £1.
I hope that this may also help knock off some of this weight I've put on over xmas!

A small spend day for me as I popped into L**l to get such exciting things as Milk :rotfl:
I have found that there is a shop that are giving away books that people have donated to them in effect its a book swap shop you can give a donation if you like - but don't have to so Ive picked up some books today & will be taking some books into them on friday as part of the big declutter I got talking to one of the volunteers it seems that if the books were not there they would find themselves in ladfill -  ok some of them are " well loved" but Today I picked up the Hairy bikers book , a W.I. book on handmade drinks & a couple of novels
Cherry Jack : as others have said i'm sure it will be fine but have you looked at the work based forums on here ?
I have joined the sealed pot challenge 5 ( 2012) so I will see some of you there

Well, I've currently got HM pea and ham soup in the SC bubbling away, I'm hoping it turns out alright as I've never made it before! got some lovely crusty bread to go with it too, so I hope it's okay.

Ooh blimey I was going to go and have a swim but slept for three and a half hours instead.
I swear it's my pain killers making me extra tired!
A NSD for me although I may need some potatoes - I've got a few lurking about but not sure if they'll, be enough, I hope so.
Fish and peas in the freezer.
The Minky is now using the bed I bought but only because I am using it as a huge cushion behind my back on the sofa and she is perched on top of it! At least it's comfy for me!
I loved that programme about the hoarder - the kids had to concede I'm no that bad!
I thought he was lovely as was his neighbour who helped him.
Right a hot bath for me and then off to visit my neighbour.
My spendess man book arrived today - hope it inspires me!Here dead we lie because we did not choose
To live and shame the land from which we sprung.
Life, to be sure, is nothing much to lose,
But young men think it is,
And we were young.
