Big hugs PIC! Ex's, and sometimes their partners, are the worst. It's NEVER about the children, always them, although in their heads, they think its in the best interest of the children... my a*se!
    Winchelsea, that is FANTASTIC!

We had a lot of horrible results from the winds, trees blocked many streets, the river covered many streets, ruined many cars, many roofs blown off, tiles crashed into cars, a lot of Windows where blown in... many pictures are on a site called 'inverclydenow', if anyone wants to see some pictures.

Made cheats Apple pie, shop bought sweet pie 'bottom' tin of Apple filling, both that I had in the cupboard, and made a meringue topping, and after adding the sugar, I added a little food colouring, so lilac meringue which when cooks, still turns that funny yellowy brown colour, but when u cut it, its a lovely lilac.
Son LOVED the meringue, his first time tasting meringue!(also my first time making it)

I am a part time lurker on this thread but hope to pop in more often as I'm aiming to cut right back on unnecessary spending and squirrel away some savings this year.

You are quite an inspirational lot. :D
Me too i'm really hoping to make a nice dent in some of my debts and have already picked up some great tips from here!

Lola I hope no one was injured in that roof accident. So sorry for those who have lost their lives in these awful winds. Just being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Been suffering with a horrendous sore throat for two and half weeks now, though I am feeling much better, touch wood. Antibiotics hadn't really helped and I felt I was in need of some spiritual assistance so I took out my angel cards. After reading them I felt reassured and later on that day there was a pure white feather at my feet. So as a white feather is supposed to mean your guardian angel is with you I thought how significant, especially after me reading my angel cards. The next day I spotted another and another...nope not angel feathers, they were making their way out of a pair of 'duvet' slippers hubbie had kindly bought me when he popped into mr m's a few days ago. The worst thing was being vegan I don't use feather pillows or duvets and I'd been wearing these oh so comfy duvet slippers  We looked on the box they came in and it didn't say what they had inside so I can't feel too awful about it. Poor hubby he was so sorry for getting them me with them having feathers in. Bless him. Anyway took them back today and got a refund on them.
Oh dear I did start to feel like I had a stalker guardian angel with all those feathers around :rotfl:
On to my frugal bit...whilst I was in mr. ms I had a wander over to the reduced section and got over £10 worth of food for £1.25! And it was food we eat, well not me because it was mainly quorn but the family eat it and it's freezable :)
Out tomorrow day with friends on a catch up and planning on spending very little indeed.
    Onwards and upwards :D

  • Determined new ms - I have found out through family history research that I have a whole lot of relatives in Canada. Am very tempted to go and meet them this year, especially as the closest one is also the oldest and is in her late eighties!

Thanks frugaldom - am glad to be back on the list! Will re-acquaint myself with the first few pages - so much useful info there.
Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!

I haven't heard of injuries due to the winds, just a lot of structural damage. But will find out more tomorrow. When the papers are out. (unfortunately someone was found dead in a doorway, but nothing to do with the weather, just the idiots we have in this town :-()

Count me in please ( I did ask a few days ago but probably lost, this is moving so quickly!).

Looking at an expensive January with heating oil to pay for, delivered before Christmas, plus house insurance. I wish Jan was free of council tax and water rates, not just Feb and March. At least the resolve to lose weight will mean those of us who like toast, biscuits and cheese, ice cream etc will be eating a lot less of the unnecessary goodies.

  • Quick update.

2 NSD's so far, today will also be a NSD.Taking lunch into work along with cake,to use up as I am the only one eating it,will be so glad when all the Christmas goodies are gone.
Did a survey this morning 9 points left to payout, have to keep a close eye on my inbox.
Bought some bread and milk yesterday, will do a small grocery shop on Saturday,so the rest of the week should be NSD's
I do need to book my car in for a MOT,must do that today.:(
    Have a good day all.xx

  • Back to work tomorrow so will have to spend money today but am trying to think as frugally as possible. Will attempt to make some lemon curd couscous cake with my remaining couscous rather than waste it (I want the jar for my pasta). Will make something with the other roll of pastry I bought before xmas BOGOF for pack up for everyone or possibly tea. Will have to spend some money today but really begrudgingly so. As I am in a realyl penny-pinching mode kids will be hacked off, might leave them at home while I do the shopping so they don't badger me for stuff or annoy me. It is the last day of the holidays for them so I am assuming they will be stuck on the sofa all day watching TV "while they can". . . I may have other plans for them though (rubs hands and laughs wickedly). Have a great day everyone. x
