Day at home today so NSD. Going to get kids ready for school, keep on clearing out and tidying up. Stew for tea with whoopsied meat.
Also start of "diet" today, need to lose at least 2 stone. I am using a online diary thing called myfitnesspal because I can also get it on my phone. A few of us where I live are starting our own little weighing-in club on Monday so no one has to pay £5 a week to go to a slimming group. The local pub have kindly let us use their front lounge to meet.
Have a good day everyone, hopefully we've had the worst of this weather now x

Good morning :-) need to catch up on thread xx had some bad news yesterday.. OH suspended on job pending investigation :-(( so very worried today.. and hes gutted walking around lookin real sorry for himself. Cut a long story short once they have him in and do an investigation all should be ok*prays* (water board tried to say he had left a pollution) but was ok because a lorry was already on site. Does anyone know how long a suspension can last? hes on full pay while they sort things. Not what i need when we are about to have the baby*days away* :-(( Absolutely terrified, cus you dont know how these things are going to map out.
On a frugal note, we are off shopping and want a change.. aldi or lidl?? we normally shop in asda. Thanks everyone xxx

Oh, that's awful, fingers crossed for you. I like lidl, but we haven't got an aldi near us so I can't compare the two. Let us know how you get on xx

DS is out to ruin my frugal plans! Last week I paid off his overdraft on condition that he closed the account, pays me back by standing order and pays his board by standing order (I'm sure I'll go on to add a few more conditions lol) So .... I pop in home between jobs to tell him he's got half an hour to be ready. Was he ready in time? Ha! Which meant we didn't have time to walk from free parking space to the bank. How can a bank that sponsors racing drivers take sooooo long to complete a simple administrative task? Rush round to his new bank to set up the standing order, leaving me with no time to sort my denture out and costing me £1.50 for parking. He is having sweetcorn and tuna sandwiches for work tomorrow because, trust me, there's far more sweetcorn than tuna in them :-)

Welcome Sammie2012 and Debbiedebt, I've just added your names then spotted Twiglet.

Twiglet, sorry I missed your name but I asked for them to be PM'd to me and haven't had one from you. Perhaps you haven't read the first (and most important) post, but I've got you now. Will add your name to the list and wish you luck for 2012 challenge.

Has anyone tried ROSSPA? (It's in the Handy Links in first post.)

Frugaldom - can I join please?

OH's contract finishes at the end of August so I'd like to build up a pot in case there's a gap between jobs. If there isn't, we'll have money for house repairs and maybe a summer holiday. Whatever happens, I want to be more frugal and need as much support as I can get!

    Hi everyone:hello:
New year has started well with an overtime shift already ( I had visions of o/time drying up immedietely after xmas due to me doing shopwork) I am counting every penny and everything I eat and am determined to live to a ripe old age and to be able to afford a comfortable retirement. My only problem I have come up against so far is no one seems to have £2 coins in their change so I am going to change to putting £1 coins in my moneybox instead.
I managed to avoid stopping for coffee and a muffin (which is one of my aims) but did catch the bus because it is cold and my bag was too heavy to carry far cos it was full of fruit and veg.
I hope everyone is getting organised and feeling as positive as me in making this a really good year.:grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

Is there a big difference shopping at Aldi and Lidl compared to shopping at say Asda? I started shopping at Aldi and found it to be pretty good once I got used to what goods are worth buying and what to avoid, but still ended up having to shop elsewhere to get everything they didn't sell at Aldi.

Have people switched to Aldi and Lidl and found it makes a big difference to their shopping bills?
