  • A great start to the New Year! I only have my groceries delivered when they have super special offers on things I use, or send me a voucher cos I haven't used them for ages, and I'm not fussy which supermarket tries to woo me.

And Mr T has come up trumps. :j Nearly £1 reduction on 6-packs of dog food, and a £15 money-off voucher!!! :T So our doggy will have 2 months of food, and I'll have effectively £25 off my food bill. Amazing what you can get excited about, isn't it!

    xx
  • On page 42 already! I have a big catch-up to do!

I have just posted my final 2011 result on the old thread - and am feeling very proud, also grateful (as I said there) for the support that's kept me on the straight and narrow. I'll repeat here that I came in at £1829.42 under budget !!

So, I'm joining again this year, and will stay on the path. Doesn't seem so difficult this time as it's become a way of life (easier not to relapse into naughty ways!)

Happy New Year all, and thanks again!
Keeping two cats and myself on a small budget, and enjoying life while we're at it!

I recently got exited over finding a kenwood glass mixing bowl in the local charity shop for £1 ......... nobody understood my happiness :rotfl::rotfl:

DH has been to pick up DSSs. I had to take the moggies for their second jabs and they have to be done between 3-4 weeks apart and with bank hols this was the only day I could get in so I could not go with him. After an 8 hour drive he is finally home. The boys have come back saying they hate their mother and they do not want to go again

Apparently she has said they only want her for money and that they don't appreciate anything she does. She has told them to ring her if they want to see her again!. As usual they will probably come out with things that have happened over the next few days so I am waiting for the bomb shells to hit. One of the boys is also convinced she has taken some of his Christmas money.

I have spent hours on the phone to her over the years but it is a case of when things are going ok she gets the knives out and stabs you in the back so this time I think sod it, I will talk to the boys but she can sort her own mess out.

I don't think it helps that she has just been found out for claiming credits for 2 years for boys that live with us

Oh what a fun few days, why can't ex's realise your not getting back at anyone other than the kids. Thankfully my ex and me are on ok speaking terms and let DS decide what he wants to do. Luckily he would rather spend his time with me :rotfl::rotfl:

    families eh?

Thanks Frugaldom I received your PM.

Hi all, I would like to take up the Frugal Challenge this year, I am going to aim quite high and go for £6,500, and if I can manage this I hope to get it down further next year, but this year will be trial and error for us.

I will be using the £6,500 for everything that's not a direct debit, eg food, clubs, school lunches, haircuts, MOT etc etc. We are a family of 5 - me, my OH, and 3 DSs. Good luck to everyone else too, Kalojac

I am so please I rang BT to try to wangle a cheaper deal on my broadband paying £27.00 for unlimited anyway after telling them I will go elsewhere managed to get for £17.99 woo hoo a top result.
Some nasty weather out there take care.We have just blustery winds so got off lightly.

Well done, I did the same last year and got the same deal as you, but my deal is just about up, mid Feb I think so here's hoping for an extension to this deal or even a slightly cheaper one!! :rotfl:
  • Wow, just managed to catch up with this thread. Another NSD for me, that's 2 this year so far. Have only spent £2.39 on a bacon sandwich yesterday for DD who "forgot" to have breakfast! Am just waiting the dreaded cc statement to see exactly how bad I was over xmas and to evaluate exactly what is needed for this year. Will update budget as soon as this happens.

Power cut today but then made lemon curds and jam tarts with some rogue pastry found in the fridge instead of buying more nibbles! Told everyone they'd have to lump it, but about half of them gone so far. x

More names added, should all be up to date now.

9 hours of power cut here today and lights are flickering again! The hail has been batterig down and it's got so cold that it's starting to lie.

Well done Winchelsea o your huge under spend in 2011! Great icentive to start the new year with your budget well and truly within your means. :)

Catch up properly soon, I hope, i the meantime, posts 1 and 2 should have all the details any newcomers should need.
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

  • Wow, 2 NSD's this month which is pretty good going for a serial spender like me, just an £11.90 grocery shop after work this evening. When I got home I found a lottery ticket I had forgotten to check and had won £11.40 so really only a 50p spend this year so far (except for direct debits).

Made dinner from stuff lurking in the freezer and there was enough left for my lunch tomorrow so I'm really pleased :) long may this continue!
