Nightmare - what a shame about your green house. We have a wee shed that the lawnmower lives in and OH had to do a hasty roof fix this morning as it was hanging off.0 -
Good Morning
I hope everyone is ok after such a terrible night! One of our fence panels had been ripped out and broken up! Fortunately we had a spare which we could slot back in as goodness knows how much 5ft wood fence panels cost now!
Feeling quite chuffed with myself this morning I finally worked up the courage to cut my own hair! saving myself £7.50!:jand it looks ok!2012 Frugal Living Challenge

Morning fellow frugalars, dreadful night and morning of wind and rain/sleet. Inside day for me aswel. Which means a lovely NSD, my 1st of the year. I have seen clydesdale bank of scotland offering 95% mortgages so i might manage to get out of here sooner rather than later. Taking the 5% out the deposit and keeping it in emergency fund would help me feel alot more secure.Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.

Just been and got my 2 DS feet measured, neeither needs new shoes, phew! One thing I don't scrimp on is good shoes for the kids.
Popped into Mr M's whilst out, they have dippy (Tom ket) half price and 10 muller lites for £2, tuna half price so bought all the bargains and left!
Now going to start the mass clear out / Spring clean / ebay hunt, wish me luck!Mum to 2 DSs, dog mum, wife full-time worker.

I have already cancelled my appointment, got hairdresser coming to cut all our hair at 5pm and then let the highlighting begin!! I think if I had kept my appointment I would have just carried on. I feel fairly confident I can do it myself.

well my 2012 frugal living is going well so far.... 3rd NSD - yay - wont last any longer as am out tomorrow meeting a friend who says she's buying breakfast (but she usually conveniently forgets!!) and then a trip around the charity shops and back home. Am trying to get a good deal on phone and broadband prices but as I live in the sticks we dont have the pleasure of cablestill time to research and make some decisions.
The suns now shining after the cats n dogs deluge and it will be baking time soon.

Hello:D
As I said in my previous post my blanket is a real Janet and John affair:D I started it the week after I was made redundant- cast on 42 stitches, did the whole lot in garter stitch and knitted 8 long scarves the same length rather than individual squares and changed colour whenever it took my fancy so no individual block is the same size:o I laid it all out on the floor and once I decided it was wide enough I blanket stitched each "scarf" together and then used the left over ends of wool to blanket stitch around the edge. It needed to have no rules and nothing that could go wrong as I was so stressed looking for work at the time. Highly unlikely that my method is the right way to make a blanket but I knew if I made individual squares I'd never finish it.

Warm wishes goes to those who are struggling in the weather right now, stay safe and warm x
Not a NSD for me today - we've popped out and got a few bits and bobs for the cupboards, and me and OH treated ourself to a hot pork and stuff sandwich, was lovelyNow very much ensconsed on the sofa with a blanket, don't intend to go much further today...

Have managed to finalise my budget for this challenge. I have set it for £11,000, which includes my mortgage.
Did not include the food as my Mum lives with me and she pays for it. So am keeping a separate account on what is being spent. I always show my Mum the receipts from the shopping. Am carrying on doing Mr. A price guarantee each week to see if I can get any money off the food shop. Was pleased last year, as I saved £325 compared to the 2010 food bill. Have been trying different recipes and down shifting brands.
January is an expensive month as I have 2 yearly payments going out, my property maintenance and my pre-paid prescription payment. Am looking into my home contents and life insurance to see if they can be reduced.
Hope everyone is keeping safe with the terrible weather and hugs to those in need of them.Frugal Living Challenge 2025 Mortgage free as of 1st August 20130
