I think we have a very different attitude to coupons in this country than they seem to have in America. I use the occasional coupon, but my printer is on the fritz at the moment, so I can't print any out
Ok is this programme on youtube by any chance as I don't have a tvflying_fresian wrote: »I got mine from Poundland
So each of them has cost me £1 to make plus the cost of any gems etc. They're quick to make and I'm amazed at how good they look if I'm honest!
I'm gutted that I missed the cheap cellophane that Lidl had on offer recently. I'm hoping that they have it again soon. I just bought some card from there - £1.99 per pack for 25 sheets of really good quality card that is perfect for my cardmaking.
I usually get my card from the discount book store...about 20 sheets (A4) for 99p (though haven't had any for months) and blank cards from ebay...
Printer wise guys go on the techie thread and enquire about cheap printers.. After getting through a fair few the past few years (long story) I figure a cheap epson with individual cartridges is best then a chip resetter and some ink off amazon/Mr T etc (I use the just refill kit at first - fab but messy) and you're sorted...
So yeah that's your options..or try freecycle/charity shops
Am almost finished my second pair of wristwarmers so like thinking of either crocheted socks or like making a ripple afghan larger...though folk are right - will have to get on freecycle for wool...
Anyone have any decent DK crochet sock patterns btw as sock wool is about £5 per sock ...hardly cost effective.....
Boy I forgot how quickly this thread moves in the beginning :rotfl:...
Frugaldom add me to the list please (have finally decided LOL)

shocking revelation i can't knit:eek::eek: i am only 25 tho so it wasn't taught in school my mum never taught me either my granny tried a few times but didn't have the patience, i can do a abit but i get confused when i start a new row.
i also can't sow but it was gonna cost me £480 for a new curtain for my livingroom, i managed to get the fabric and header tape and lining and all the other bits for £90 which was enough to do both windows and not just the big one, i bought a waffle fabric to help hide any seams (my windows 3.5m long) so thats my next project, i have a sewing machine i pinched from my mum so straight lines should be ok, she';s suppose to be helping me but i'm fed up of waiting so i'll be watching some youtube vidoe's then trying myself
it's wild here today i'm avoiding shops til tomorrow as it would mean a special drive into town, problem is i ran out of toilet roll 4 days ago, so i've been running around trying to find stray ones, i really thought i'd have to go today but i just found another one, my kids are back to school tomorrow so i can nip to lidl before collecting them
just checked my bank and my insurances have came out (for my washing machine, dyer, dishwasher costs £15.90 for all 3 and we've already used it twice since getting it so worth the money) u acually forgot to add this when i was doing this budget but i do have abit of a buffer so i should be okDEC GC £463.67/£450

Still, should manage a NSD!
Oh rising I felt like i've been awake half the night definatly a day to stay in I think normally hampshire escapes the worst - but not todayCOOLTRIKERCHICK wrote: »what a flipping night:eek: and the wind and rain is still at it...
When ever we put fuel in at a supermarket petrol station, no matter how carefull we are it ALLWAYS goes over by 1p.. tesco is the worst....i am sure they have programmed their pumps to do this... and as most people pay by card.. they got to pay that penny... all those pennies add up at the end of the day..
think it might be worth taking cash, and saying i havent got the extra penny;)
think its time to go and make a cuppa:D
I can identify with this in fact it happened on new years eve it drives me mad
I hope everyone stays safe today - still another no spend day 3rd in a row :j and at least our bin has been emptied today so it won't be full anymore and the big clean can begin :T as I carn't have a messy houseEmma :hello:0 -

Morning all,
It's the start of my frugal year and I'm going to begin by listing what food we already have and adjusting shopping lists accordingly. I remember that this time last year there were lots of offers on cleaning and laundry products in Mr T's etc so I may stock up in advance. I've got to find work now that my Christmas temp job has come to an end. I'm lucky that I'm not the bill payer for most things as my OH covers the mortgage etc but I usually cover food shopping, my car, clothes and shoes for me and DS and outings so it's a challenging 2012 already. I'm going to check the coupon and newpaper threads now before shopping.
Have a good day everyone.:j:T:rotfl:0 -
Finally got an updated version of my budget done! Will have missed lots of things no doubt, but I can tweek it as I go.
Now its remembering to keep it up to date!.
Today I have paid the rent out for the week, rounded it up to £75 for ease as the housing benefit keeps changing, so better to be safe then sorry. Last year i got into arrears and have only just managed to pay it back.
Do not invisage anymore spends today, the weather is so foul I doubt I will be going anywhere, except to collect my childcare to help with DGD. The weather is just too bad for her to walk if you ask me. (she has been unwell, and I dont want her getting ill again!, her help is invaluable). When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

Oh dear, what a start to the year for you! I hope that your insured for the greenhouse! At least it is plastic and not glass! The previous people in my house had a greenhouse that was smashed up in the garden before I moved in, and it has been coming to the surface everytime it rains, dispite the council having supposedly cleaned it up! Which is very scarey with a toddler around.
That reminds me, that my shed window will probably have popped out, it seems to have a mind of its own, and always pops the frame when its windy!.When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0
