I have a big spend at Tesco online with a £15 off a £75 spend so have stocked up on Half price washing powder and cat food amongst other needed things on offer.

Sorry to hear of broken green houses and fence panels.

    Aril that blanket is fab.

I bought the cats a huge pillow pad bed which arrived today as a treat - are they interested? No! They will stick to the ironing board, laptops bags or papers on the floor!

    I've slept all afternoon.

I had to go out early to have physio and have been palpitated into submission - it really has helped but won't be leaving the house again!

Hi to all, we're having problems here with the storms, too - powr was out for about 9 hours today, so I'm just updating the challenger list while I have the chance. Welcome Kalojac, thanks for joining us here. :)

Brekkie was cereal, took us ages to find the camping equipment as it was all still packed from the housemove but eventually found it and got the kettle going on the open fire. :D

Pavlov's, nice to see you here! I hope your house project is coming along as planned. Progress here is quite slow but it's steady, so that's the main thing. :)

Hope everyone's surviving the current stormy weather, stay safe and keep those emergency supplies at the ready!
I reserve the right not to spend.
The less I spend, the more I can afford.

Another nsd, so far that has been 0 in January :-) sounds good saying it like that hehe

We have had over 90mph winds too, a lot of ripped roofs, buildings broken etc etc, best pic I have seen is of a place in Glasgow (approx 28miles from me) where the roof blew off a mini high flat.... look and see where it landed!

  • Oh my Lola thank goodness no-one was underneath at the time. Been chatting to a regular poster on another thread I'm an avid reader of and she heard a huge noise and when she plucked up courage to look out .. the chimney stack is lying in her garden (again, thank goodness it didn't come inwards onto the flats).

Have only ventured out to put the car in the garage as it's been horrendous here too ......

    Yup!:)
Woke up to discover we're on a red alert for wind of 90mph and to discover that my lovely green house is nothing more than a pile of twisted metal and broken plastic.

Ohhhhhh nooooooooo (((hugs))) I had one of the wee ones that didn't survive the 2010/11 winter (and now really glad that I haven't yet got around to replacing it) - DM has 2 huge ones so she kindly started the seedlings off for me last year and hoping she'll do this same this year.

knitted 8 long scarves the same length rather than individual squares and changed colour whenever it took my fancy so no individual block is the same size:o I laid it all out on the floor and once I decided it was wide enough I blanket stitched each "scarf" together and then used the left over ends of wool to blanket stitch around the edge. It needed to have no rules and nothing that could go wrong as I was so stressed looking for work at the time. Highly unlikely that my method is the right way to make a blanket but I knew if I made individual squares I'd never finish it.

Sounds good Aril and funnily enough I found a pattern for a throw a few months ago and it was a very similar idea (but never got around to doing it :o and was worried I'd not get all the squares even) so will be giving it a bash soon!

I am a part time lurker on this thread but hope to pop in more often as I'm aiming to cut right back on unnecessary spending and squirrel away some savings this year.

You are quite an inspirational lot. :D
