No-one is forcing you to read it.

Indeed they aren't, but I still fancied making the point.

Blimey Cleaver, did you get out the wrong side of bed this morning?

No, I'm quite cheery today. I just find the vitriol for tube drivers on here quite odd. I think they probably get paid way too much. But there are only 3,200 of them, so if they all get, say, £20,000 too much then we're talking about £6.4m in pay every year over and above what they should get. That's £6.4m. And of course, a saving of £6.4m would be nice, but in the grand scheme of things is it worth all this moaning? Every single person's local council, local hospital, local police force and local authority each waste that amount of money every few months.

If I recall correctly the government spends around £6m a year on adverts telling people to turn lights off and their heating down as part of their climate change agenda.
  • these people are so vastly overpaid it makes every londoner physically sick.

don't forget that is 6.4m over possibly 20 yrs so 128m plus all the pension liabilities.

they are scum. unhelpful, jobsworth scum.

SACK THEM ALL AND CLOSE THE TUBE DOWN.

I think it is an absolute joke! My husband is in the Police, he orignally had Christmas Day and Boxin Day off but he is now working both... (with 2 months notice in the change!) he has three small children which will miss out on seeing him now.... absolute joke! He will get nothing in the way of moneytry pay that these tube drivers will get. My little bro is in Afgan over Xmas.... he will also not get paid extra!

I think they should be greatful they have a job! As a pp said, they realised the job and its hours when they joined! Its like a nurse going on strike because they need to deal with drunks on a friday night - no-one wants to but unfortunately that is the way the job is!

I say, tell them to strike and get extra bus drivers in a reward them!

If people are desperate to spend money they can go online!!!

Dockland light railway can work safely without drivers.

I covered the issue at uni and the only reason the system isn't automated is people feel uncomfortable with driver-less trains. However now a days people are getting more use to technology and attitudes are changing, this is being reinforced each time the drivers try and hold us hostage.

You have a university education? That explains quite a lot.

It has been announced that driverless trains will start to be implemented on LU during the 2020s.

Driverless train will result in the current drivers focus on assisting passengers, checking safety requirements etc. There will still be a 'safety officier' on baord each train. The union is not stupid.
