I've just sold a car, and buyer was happy as hell, test drove it for as long as they wanted, and on thier own.
We talked at length about a problem which is intermittant on the gearbox torque converter, and he said he thinks he knows how to fix that. all is great. deal done, and after 1.5 hrs of talking he drives away.
2hrs later, he's complaining about the torque converter on the gearbox and demanding his money back...
its a private sale, im not a trader in anyway shape or form. he is claiming the sale of goods act.. im pretty certain that he cannot use that against a private seller.
i have the money, he has the log book, keys, reciept. mot, tax.... etc.... and after a 50 mile round trip has parked the car outside my house .
very very strange. we discussed this problem in great great detail. and i feel like i'm being unreasonable. but after he decided that threats might get him a refund i rang the police and they said obviously its a civil matter, and he went away..
But the car is still outside my house. blocking the drive. and as its legally (in my opinion) his car. im wondering what to do from here?
should i offer to repair the car. even though it was fully disclosed? or am i obliged to offer him his money back? I dont think so, and as far as im aware, he's bought it. Sold as seen, made himself very happy about the car, positives and negatives. (its an off road land rover)
any thoughts?

Have you sent your 'slip' to the DVLA? I would.
If the car is still there in a few days I'd report it to the council
CAB has a guide to the rights of a buyer in a private sale (not many)0 -

You should only have given him the new keeper bit and you should have sent it off. (Unless the new red V5 is different)0 -
it was a red one, he said he needed to send it off, and i didn't even think for a minute that wasn't right. looks like i've made a mistake there.0

Only problem is he knows where the OP lives. So maybe not the best way to start.0
