there's part of the problem - atheros wifi cards can be somewhat flaky, although not as bad as Marvell ones :(

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D
  • Hi. I hope you don't mind me posting my question on the back of this one, but the title fits my problem too! And from what I've been reading, I have great confidence in someone on this board finding a solution for me.

Several months ago I replaced an old modem with a new TP-Link 54mbps Wireless G ADSL2+ router (I have a Dell Inspiron 1300). My memory of what I had to do to set it up is up bit hazy now, but the upshot is that it seems to be working, all the right lights are on and 'Wireless Network is Connected' message visible. All works fine while it's wired up, but when I go 'wireless', ie remove the ethernet(?) cable from the laptop I cannot access the internet. 'Wireless Network is Connected' still appears, but when I try to access the internet I get messages such as 'Cannot connect to website, Page not found, etc.) After many attempts and trying to find an on-line solution I just gave up and resigned myself to being wire-bound. But having viewed this thread new hope is kindled!

Does anyone know why I cannot access the internet wirelessly and, if so, what I can do about it?

Really hope you can help (I KNOW you can).
