it's a usb wifi card - you plug it into laptop and use it to connect to your router wirelessly :)
    ......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple :D

To save yourself further stress.... if you can afford £5.30:
USB Mini Wireless WiFi 802.11N Network WLAN Network Adapter Dongle w/ WPS Button
USB Mini Wireless Slim WiFi 802.11N 150Mbps Adapter WLAN Network Ethernet Dongle

    Alternatives:

    54 Mbps Wireless 802.11g/b USB 2.0 LAN Adapter £4.90
300 Mbps Wireless 802.11b/g/n USB LAN Adapter £7.30

Thanks for that TT- Do they just slot in and do I need to use them with my new router? (For some reason I couldn't connect to Outlook sometimes with the new router. I kept getting error message '797')

Probably to do with having a dialup modem before.

Open Internet Options in Control Panel.
    Click the Connections tab.
Select "Never dial a connection," and then click OK

Otherwise, you may need to delete your account settings and then re-enter them with the help of TT.

Thanks for that TakeThis and Gunjack.
I have changed to 'never dial a connection' and will set up the new router again, and check whether Outlook works, tomorrow.
    I will order a dongle/adapter too.
Are they for laptops that are not wireless enabled?

I meant account settings in Outlook(if 'Never dial a connection' does not work).
They can work on any PC.

Are any of the above better than any of the others? Just wondering if any one was particularly recommended as they mean nothing to me?

I don't have any experience with the mini adaptors. Whilst they look really good, I am concerned about their range(as the inner aerial must be tiny).

This one looks better. :) But will take longer to arrive.

Practically though, the most expensive is the best overall, followed by the model for £4.90 when it comes to range.

Perhaps you can email the seller to ask about the range of the button types, as I can't guarantee they will work in other rooms.

    Morning TT,

No, not yet, but getting there. Took you literally and so ordered the gadget from Deal Extreme for around £7. It's been shipped (air mail), but I think it may be a couple of weeks before arrives.
I just hope that I can get it to work when it arrives as that will make life a lot easier for me.:T

US$9.40 is £6. Which the usual CC charges, should be around £6.20.

Thought that you might be put off by the humongous aerial. :)
