I initially thought it took 2hrs on my zanussi for a 40 wash, but after reading other posts from zanussi people I thought I'd finally read the instructions and have now worked out I can do same wash but on a "quick" style (less rinses) and it only takes 1hr 8mins. Thanks everyone!
  • i have a truly fab washer. its a hoover top loader with a vertical drum it has 6kg load does a 30% wash in 35 minutes and spins 1400 would highly reccommend it and its tiny! less than 2/3rd the width of a normal one
  • My Miele W2662 is a fantastic machine, the quick wash is 30 mins at 40 degrees.
  • After using the automatic washing machine:

    - at the 6 o'clock position of the seal I wedge a cloth down into 'folds' of the seal to absorb any moisture (removing cloth after I have hung up washing)
    - leave the door open fot a bit

The quickest washing I ever did was with a Hoover twin tub! Memories, memories .....

I've got a 7 year old Indesit machine that seems to take forever. I don't have a quick wash option, but I'm sure it must take well over an hour, possibly nearer 2 hours for the "delicates" 40 degree wash I use most of the time.

I'm going to time it next time, but it might explain why my electric bill is always so much higher than my friend who lives in an identical house a few doors down.

We bought our new Zanussi last year, and the washing cycle lasts for ages!

When I visited my brother who is working in Thailand, I noticed that his washing machine (which opens at the top, not at the front) only takes 36 mins to wash and drain.

Now I really want a top open washing machine if it means it washes quicker and also it is easier to get the laundry out of the machine without bending down.

That's great! I need to read the instructions again now as I think we can do with less rinse because we use soapnuts and not washing powder in our washing machine.

If you have an options button you just push that twice, the first time selects prewash, then the second time selects quick wash. I now use it all the time on a 40 wash and it washes exactly the same, I have a messy 2 year old so need it to wash properly.
