It doesn't show on my c/a for either month. Making a complaint to cs doesn't help. I'll look for something higher. Might see if my local branch can help. Not sure how much they have to do with bc. Never had any trouble with the regular bank which I've had an account at since I was 7!0

I did not want a Barclaycard and told them.
They sent one anyway. I destroyed it immediately, told them I had done so and that I wanted nothing mre to do with Barclaycard.
What did they do? They took £120 out of my main current account in a different bank, using the details from Egg.
I have not signed a direct debit with Barclaycard.
Is this not fraud by Barclaycard/
My own bank is doing wvwerything they can to try to slime out of tackling Barclaycard.
"Anyone can set up a direct debit for your account, they don't need your permission to do so" I am told by the lady on my bank's helpline.
How can my bank think this?
They really do think we the customers are just an inconvenience in their self-serving money merry-go-round.
In this instance you will have already agreed for this to happen with your original agreement between you and Egg.
If you owed Egg anything, you now legally owe it to Barclaycard and they lawfully took it from your current account as per your prior instruction to Egg.
If you recall the direct debit, but payment was due, you will damage your credit file and have no recourse to have the adverse data removed.
If you want nothing to do with Barclaycard, clear the balance and close the account, don't just act like your account hasn't been transferred to them:beer:

The branch can't help.
You need to raise a formal written complaint to Barclaycard, not Barclays Bank.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

Problems still outstanding at the time of writing:
-OH still has two separate barcalaycard logins (one existing, one for the ex-egg cards) despite messaging barclaycard & asking to merge them
-pay at pump terminals still won't accept the new cards
-ASDA mobile can't accept the new cards ("the new numbers have not been rolled out")
-can't use the new numbers to do balance transfers (the old egg card numbers still work though)
-can't use the new card to apply for the free noddle credit reportsWe need the earth for food, water, and shelter.

I cleared my egg balance 6 months ago. Unknown to me, Barclaycard now have a balance carried forward from egg of £50 ( I now have to dig through my records to prove the account as settled). They also have put a direct debit against my account.
I have contacted my bank and asked them to cancel this dd, and under the terms of the dd guarantee I have asked them to refund any monies taken as this dd was not authorized by me.
So to challenge your post above, while the debt may be owed, and ownership of the debt can change hands, the dd instruction is a contract between two named parties (not an account number). Any change to this would require new consent.

Just logged in to my barclay account and find no payments have been made in november and december since this switch from egg, I now have a warning about missed payments, I have paid by direct debit without fail since being with egg, so much for the smooth transaction.
Just got off the phone to an Indian call centre to be told its an error on the account and not to worry, I enquired about my credit rating being affected and was told this wouldn't be the case.... hence my online search and finding this place...
Should I be concerned, and if so who do I contact as Indian call centre doesn't seem to be the way to answers.
Thanks for any help0 -
I spent the best part of three weeks trying to resolve the DD issue with barclaycard. I eventually got it resolved to my satisfaction early December having been assured that I won't have to pay my first bill in December and from 1st january they would take my first payment and then everyone after that on the 1st as agreed with egg. This resolved the issue for me, or so I thought. I now know that barclaycard are exceedingly incompetent and really wish I hadn't been stuck with them. Not only did they not take the December payment, they also did not take the January payment so I have not made a single payment to barclaycard since the transfer because of their incompetence. I am also now £103 over my credit limit thanks to their £116 interest and £12 over credit charge, even though it was thanks to them that I'd gone over my credit limit. Furious doesn't even begin to cover how I'm feeling about them at this moment. Luckily they've agreed to refund the interest and charge back to me but I'm still nowhere with the DD issue. If anyone were to consider barclaycard I would seriously warn them off them.
Also, egg always used to ring me if I had ever gone over my credit limit to warn me and try and avoid paying excess interest, no such call from barclaycard!! I miss egg already, they were actually a decent credit card company!0 -
Add me to the '!!!!!! has happened' line
I only really checked this month as I noticed my direct debits weren't being taken on the same date that Egg had. On poking around the God-awful online account I fathomed out Barclaycard had moved it until the last day of the month without telling me, presumably to maximise intrest?
Looking around this thread it seems it's such a ballache to change dates I don't think I'll bother. Tried to cancel the DD and set up another one online but the page doesn't work, just churns out an error saying I need to ring them!
However what had really struck me was how much interest they think I'll accrue next month, £11.67 on a £320 balance. Strikes me as a bit much as on Egg I was getting charged that much on a £500 balance?0 -
Like others here I've had a problem with my DD being not being adjusted to reflect credits (which is contrary to what the online overview page implies). I had a number of refunds into the account since the statement was prepared which I expected to reduce the DD by well over £100, but instead they've collected the full DD as shown on the statement rather than the lower amount I expected, also taken an extra £100 more from my current account than I expected, and finally left a whopping credit balance on my card account with no further debits planned (as this account is used but not in a fixed pattern ie I may use it some months but not others). I'm not happy. I've seen it suggested that credits don't count towards reducing the DD but surely this is nonsensical? If a debit is what drives the DD amount up then surely a credit should work the opposite way?
I wonder if it's a clever way of tieing you in to making purchases with them the following month, so you get your own money back?0 -
