  • Thankyou everybody for all your comments , your all really nice .

Think I'm just having a really off day , because I feel really down about personal things and I have a cold (sniffs) .

I do love comping , and I don't see it as a chore , it is a hobby . I don't expect to win anything , just , seeing sooooo many others win does get to me sometimes .

I will carry on , think my first post was just my cold speaking . But all your comments really inspired me to carry on .

Im sending you lots of luck, but i would also echo what others have said about maybe taking a break. I enter quite a few comps and my hubby has got into a little, but sometimes I just have a break. It should always been seen as hobby rather than a way of making a living (although I know there are a lot of very serious compers out there, who may be able to do that) I think you should just do what helps you whether it is taking inspiration from the IWIWIW section, or maybe don't look at it at all if it makes you feel downhearted about what others are winning. If you have the time and you enjoy it, then enter what you can, but if not maybe look at some other hobby. I took a jewellery making course, and its taken me weeks but I have now made my very first ring, and quite honestly I feel just as happy and proud of this little (not quite perfect) ring as I do whenever I have won something. Anyway here's hoping that a win will come your way soon. x
  • I go on my 'luck' feeling, and sometimes bow out for a break as I'm not feeling it.
I've had spells of winning nothing for months even when I know I've entered just about every comp before end date!
But then, I've had really lucky spells of winning 3 New York trips in 18months. And once won a car!

Anyways sending lots of luck your way! You'll be back I'm sure but maybe best to 'rest' for a bit!!
  • I enter as many competitions as I can, to fit in with working and looking after a young son! Some days its none others its 100.
I only enter comps where the prize is something I want. I don't enter the dailies or monthlies as I just don't have the time! I don't tend to win much, but when I do its something I wanted!! I stay away from dvds, cd's, drink and holidays, so that rules out a fair amount!!!
I see it as you've got to be in it to win it!!
So I at least try and enter the ITV ones!

Why don't you take a break, or not put as much pressure on your self. If you can't be bothered to enter some one day, then don't worry and only enter the things you want to win. I should be entering some now instead of typing this, ha ha

    Good luck x

Proud mummy to two IVF babies just need to win thousands to pay it all back!:rotfl:
  • I realy understand where you are coming from Tobyjackjack, it does sometimes feel like banging your head against a brickwall! But the way I look at it is that I enter comps to try and win things I could never afford in "real life". I had a dry spell of about 6 months and my hubby is now sat next to me playing on the iPad2 that I won last month and gave to him for an early xmas pressie, you never know what is around the corner!
Saying that I think we all need a break now and then when it becomes more of a chore than a hobby, lots of luck and hope you feel better soon!
HUGE thanks to everyone who works so hard posting comps xxx

As I have said in another post I am having a very long dry spell but I do still love comping. As others have said it is the dreaming of a win and imagining what I would do with a prize that I enjoy. I am quite happy to keep going and dreaming for now but if I do find that I no longer enjoy entering competitions then I think I will do what has been suggested to you and take a break for a few weeks and then see how I feel.
Good luck with your future comping. :)

I treat money saving as a competition. (to help feel a winner!!!)

It is luck of the draw to catch a code for a free film / theatre or Opera etc. (they can go as fast as lightning!)

And finding something free to try or savings against other things is a competition to catch in time.

Well i don't take it too seriously. To me it's just for fun, like a hobby.
The great thing is you never know the day when something lovely will turn up with the post or you will get a winning e-mail or phone call.
Then it spurs you on to keep trying, you just don't know what tomorrow will bring.

I only had small wins - make up, books etc & last month I won a set of Jamie Oliver bowls worth over £100 & this month a top of the range blender worth £130 , this makes it all worth while - remember that a lot of comps have hundreds if not thousands of entries & usually the bigger the prize the more entries. I used to enter about 50 a day - this month it has been nearer the 100 & that's chicken feed compared to some
