Dear Mr Lewis and people of moneysavingexpert, It is 2.20 am and I am having another sleepless night over a issue that should have been put to bed on the 2nd of November 2011
Like many on this forum I have been fighting for ppi justice for almost a year but that fight has taken a sinister turn for the worst over the past days and weeks. PPI refund deadlines agreed in writing between First Plus, customers and the FSA have passed without any action or official communication.
As you will know some months ago Barclays announced with much fan fair that they would be refunding customers who had taken out ppi with them. As first Plus is part of that group imagine my joy when I received a letter from the FSA that First Plus would be making me an offer and that they had told them that once I agreed the offer £16,000 in my case I would receive a cheque in 6 to 8 weeks. That deadline date for me and many customers has now passed by days and weeks and after numerous phone calls it seems that we may not see the cheques for another 7 to 10 working days some people have been quoted up to 21 days . They say my figure has been adjusted to take into account the delay but that is just a voice on a phone and I have been told many lies over the past months via that method of communication that it holds little credibility
The problem is now the company has defaulted on a agreement date why should I believe I will see the cheque in 7/10 days? in fact how long could this go on ????? months? If I return to the FSA with another complaint will that add more time ?
While others are just taking up the Mr Lewis rallying cry to fight for what is theirs, us battle weary troops are left forgotten confused and without any real info from anyone.
I open this thread for all First plus customers who should have official received their refund cheques by now so they like me can get it off their chests and maybe get a little sleep .
I ask anyone in the media to highlight this delay in repayment as alone we can do little. The Barclay brand becomes more and more damaged by the day as I any many First Plus Customers also run Barclay accounts.
I will now tweet this and then hopefully get some sleep thank you for reading and possibly helping.

Thank you so much for posting this, and I couldn't have put it across any better myself. Well one more hour to go until I call them this morning to be given more excuses why my cheques have not been sent and until I receive my cheques they will now be having a daily phone call from me. I will be back in a little while when I have more news why they are late sending my £20,000.:(0 -
I to am waiting for my money
My 8 week will be up on Saturday 12th November
Cant see it coming in the next 3 days
:mad:0 -
Spoke to a lady on the 0845 650 6600 no, still no cheques have been sent. My calculation figures which they check again were done on the 31st October so she told me it should not be long. (As if I believe that!!!!!)
The lady actually agreed with me at how terrible this is, and one department from Firstplus does not seem to be able to talk to another department, so unfortunately they have no idea how behind they are in each department. (Madness)
I said maybe you should look at writing to customers to advise them that there payment's will be late and at least the customer's will know what to expect. But to remain silent is the wrong thing to do.
I told her I will call daily for an update until I receive them, I look forward to the phonecall at 9am tomorrow.
Good luck all you fellow firstplusers0 -
Thank you both for posting I know we all have better things we could be doing with our time. Complaining across the web and raising public opinion seems our only option as corporate banking will do what it likes at a pace it wants, until the press is bad enough that it effects the shareholders back pocket. Calling a call centre while it make us feel like we are doing something has failed to get us our money so far. The problem is call centres are just part of the delay process as you get told lies and half truths which buy the banks a few more days of holding onto millions of pounds of customers money. Who knows what today will bring ..
Have as stress free day as possible0 -

This is the standard line they are very sympathetic, as they file their nails or pick there noses or make funny faces to the other call centre people. They agree how bad it is, yesterday my wife spoke to 8 different people over the past weeks it must be 25/30 + all with different tales (lies) to tell Here is just a sample of what we have been told …...
Their will be a delay in processing your check due to large amount of claims ….(they agreed to pay us and they knew how many weeks they had to raise the cheque this is just BS)
You should never have been told you would get the cheque on Tuesday I’m very sorry that person was incorrect (code for lied to get you off the phone)
I agree with you this is very unprofessional I recommend you keep calling.
I'm afraid the first plus claims dept are not picking up their phones today can you try again this afternoon.
The cheque has be posted
The cheques have not arrived to us yet
The cheques will be delayed.....I'm sorry ….I'm sorry....please don't get so angry I understand your frustration …..
I can see you have called a lot in the last few days I understand you've been waiting over 8 weeks and you need the money for a operation on your dogs leg... well your have enough money to cover the operation when you get it (yeah if I get it)
You know we are a Barclays call centre you can't talk to first plus as they won't even talk to us (that is the best one)0 -

Although i have sympathy with anyone regarding FP,and i hate this company with a vengeance, but when the regulators cannot make them jump, there is nothing anyone can do but get it round to anyone who will listen..the press or Watchdog is your best bet,the excuses are unbelievable.
Myself and Niggly have helped posters on here with ppi claims from FP, with working figures out, what to write for their claim, what to do when they were not upheld and with our help got them a win,we alas, cannot make them pay out any faster, there is nothing any poster on here can do,even the man himself Martin Lewis has no hold over all these banks that are delaying payments etc etc,FP are not the only ones who are stalling regarding the payouts, everyone deserves their money back,FP are not alone in this blatant "we will do what we like when we like" mentality when it comes to payouts.
Write to your MP and get the message across that you will not accept this blatant disregard of regulator rules.0 -
Been on to FO this morning to see if they can chase up FP on paying out my refund, they said they could but it would reset the start date and could have to wait a further 6-8 weeks, some use they are.
Then contacted FP and managed to get hold of a manager, now theres a first, who has promised, as I am an urgent case having already waited 12 weeks due to their error, will call me back this afternoon with a payment date.
Fingers crossed, wonder if this has anything to do with me e-mailing their CEO.0 -
