My time available for MSE might be about to become severely hampered :(

Since about May work has been soooo quiet I've spent loads of 'work' hours on here :o However, have just found out that a new very big project is shortly to land on my desk, which means I'm going to be a lot busier.

Whilst obviously upset at the disturbance to my surfing time, I'm looking forward to the challenge of this project - much bigger than stuff I've done before and more responsibility etc. Oh well, looks like I might have to become an evening surfer...

I've quit smoking today  had my last cigarette just before midnight yesterday & despite a fairly easy start to the day (didn't want one first thing at all!) it's getting harder through the morning!

I quit about 3 years ago for 6 months, then completely fell off the wagon - however, the one person who doesn't know I started again is my mother (yep, 30-odd and my mum still terrifies me!)

This time I've done it at the same time as my flatmate, as we can declare the flat non-smoking, and if one of us falls off the wagon they've got to walk down 2 flights of stairs & stand on the street corner.

    Well Done Storm!!

I've never smoked and I have so much respect for smokers that decided to quit. Keep us posted on how you getting on. One of my Aunts read Allen Carr's book, I think it's called easy way to quit smoking. She had smoked for nearly 40 year and just stopped about 3 years ago.

    Good luck

Thanks guys - Alan Carr's book worked for me when I quit before - unfortunately it didn't deal with what to do when you're very drunk and someone puts a lit cigarette in your hand!

I've posted over on the stopping smoking thread too - and eating lots of biscuits!

Oh, and I was just updating my sig with this month's payments having been set up & I've cleared just over 50% of my original debt :j

Of course, if I'd not fallen off the DFW wagon so spectacularly in January I'd be well on my way to clearing the last of it, but oh well...

  • I don't know how many you used to smoke ( a couple a day or a couple of packs:confused: ) but just think of all that lovely money you'll be able to save to put towards your debt payments:j

Well done on everything you've managed so far. Keep it up!

Impomdasp - I've been on roll ups since my LBM last Autumn, and was probably spending £6-7 a week on the tobacco, papers & filters. It's not as much as before (used to be £5.50 a day!) but still adds up to a few hundred per year.

I have to admit though that I'm not going to be putting the money aside each week for the debts - I decided that I could still have it in my budget for 'treats' - although this first week I reckon it's going to be spent on Coke & chocolate (just eaten the most enormous Mars Bar as a cig substitute!)

Hmm, discovered last night that when all my willpower is going into not smoking, I really shouldn't go near a supermarket!

Ended up buying all sorts of things that I shouldn't have - big bottles of Coke, beer, chocolate fingers, crisps etc that are not only bad for my wallet but bad for my waistline! Oh well, it's *supposed* to get easier from tomorrow as all the nicotine will be gone from my system - then I've only got to worry about the pyschological cravings  so that should by easy huh? :rotfl:
