Horoscope this morning made me laugh:
Months or even years of hard work have led up to your finances being in fine shape today. Some good news regarding your income could come your way through via modern communications equipment. A letter or phone call could bring revolutionary ideas your way, possibly from friends or people you know through a group. This should actually be a rather lucky day, full of surprises, and somewhat mind-boggling. Nonetheless, enjoy it all! You deserve it!
My finances are apparently in a fine shape? :rotfl:
I'd like the good news regarding my income, but as I got told about a payrise last week, can't think what that could be!
As for it being a mind-boggling day... bring it on!Total Debt 13th Sept 2006 (exc student loan): £6240.06

Why is it when I've got a wonderful budget worked out until the end of the month people keep inviting me to things that are going to cost loads of money???
The worst is a family meal out the day before payday - I pointed this out to my mum, but got the guilt thing of it being a family celebration, surely it was more important than previously arranged outings with friends, and why couldn't I just pop it on the credit card as I'd get paid the following day?!?!? What this means is that I will be going, my bro is paying on the night & I'm paying him back the following day, so I'll already be £20 down on August's budget
On the plus side though, a friend's asked me to go camping with her for a week in August, which will be super-duper cheap as between us we've got all the camping gear we'll need & she's a MSE-er too and means I can actually get away for a while, which will be great.Total Debt 13th Sept 2006 (exc student loan): £6240.06

Been planning ahead for car insurance which is due in September - and got a wonderful surprise! When I passed my test last year the cheapest insurance I could get was £540  being a new driver & needing business mileage included. A very quick look is already throwing up prices of less than £300 (I've since done my pass plus & moved to a slightly 'better' postcode, though most of the rebate I got with those were swallowed up with the £35 admin fee they charged)
I'll be doing a bit more research closer to the time, working out best deal when factoring in Quidco etc, but if the MOT goes well next month I'll be able to stop or at least reduce my SO to the car savings account for a while :jTotal Debt 13th Sept 2006 (exc student loan): £6240.06

Postcode affects car insurance???
Mine's due October too but it's not going down this year (because I've upgraded the car)
It's amazing how much difference a year makes :eek:No longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -

The funniest thing though, I moved from somewhere with a private parking space, to on road parking & my premium went down (and although my postcode looks good as it's on a main road I can't park outside as its double yellows, so the car ends up round the corner on the edge of a council estate!)
I've just got to keep my fingers crossed for the MOT now... the car's not been sounding too healthy so I hope it's not going to be too much.Total Debt 13th Sept 2006 (exc student loan): £6240.06

What makes me mad is that my car insurance is cheaper if I add my OH to the policy even though he has 6 points on his licence, and mine is clean! Their reasoning for this is that by adding him to the policy, I am adding more experience!! I have only been driving for 20 years!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. That actually made me :rotfl:
Hypno, come on now, 20 years OBVIOUSLY isn't enough driving experience, especially with no penalty points
Though, I was surprised when I was a learner a friend put me on her insurance & it was only an extra £30 - I know I couldn't go out unsupervised but it wasn't dual control so she was still at my mercy!Total Debt 13th Sept 2006 (exc student loan): £6240.06

I'm sitting here in a state of excitement as I'm going to pick up Harry Potter in just over 8 hours :j
Having a bit of a MSE dilemma though - I reserved a copy for £9 & paid £3 deposit at Waterstones, so £6 left to pay tonight. However, with ASDA now saying they're selling them for £5 it would still be cheaper to go there... but I'd feel bad, and I like bookshops, and I don't think ASDA are opening at midnight here so I'd have to go tomorrow morning (cutting out valuable reading time!) For £1, should I change my plans?Total Debt 13th Sept 2006 (exc student loan): £6240.06

I'm probably way too late with this as you've probably already been to buy your HP and are maybe already reading it:rotfl:.
Just thought I'd mention that Asda usually open 24 hours(all the big ones do anyway). I'm often in Asda doing my monthly shop in relative peace in the early hours:j . If only Lidl opened all night too!0
