Hi Storm,
If you dont already know, watercress (not salad cress) is supposed to help get rid of cravings and failing that I found a picture of a diseased lung helped get rid of the craving pretty quickly. Not the most conventional way I know but it worked for me.
I hope your will power stays strong!Debt Free - done

Hi Storm, good news on the smoking, and enjoy the extra food for the moment!! Next time you go to the supermarket, only take a certain amount of cash with you so you don't get carried away!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. Just about made it through the weekend without a cig - Saturday was fine as i was busy & then at a friend's in the evening who doesn't smoke. Sunday was sooo nearly my downfall - was having a lazy mooching about day, BIG mistake! I spent most of the afternoon craving a cig, then tried going to the pub in the evening - cos it was so hot I wanted to go in the garden, but I ended up eyeing up all the packets of fags... Managed to resist, though I ended up going home early!
Money-wise it wasn't too bad a weekend, although my chocolate bill this month is going to be high I feel - will have a look for watercress in the supermarket tonight & add it to everything I eat if it works!Total Debt 13th Sept 2006 (exc student loan): £6240.06

Humph! Just got an email from the local council who I do some ad-hoc work for... I was due to get about £100 (after deductions) at the end of July for some work I'd done for them & it didn't show up, so emailed my contact to ask why... reply is 'don't know, will look into it for you'
Thankfully, as my next target is Egg which is on 0% it's not actually so urgent for me to have this money now - but if it takes as long for this to get sorted as the previous mess up they made (I only got paid for December's work in mid April!) then it could be problematic - if I end up paying interest on a CC because they can't get their @rses into gear I'm going to raise an enormous stink!Total Debt 13th Sept 2006 (exc student loan): £6240.06

OK, I need to get some severe motivation to actually list stuff on Ebay, Amazon etc - I've been 'intending' to do it every night this week - at each night I've ended up watching TV & playing on the Wii until about 1am when I panic at the time & go to bed!
Don't have a clue what's wrong with me at the moment :wall:
I keep making the excuse for Ebay that I want to list stuff so it finishes at a reasonable time (not the middle of the night!) but I really don't have that excuse with Amazon or Green Metropolis.
Right - tell me off guys, threaten me with whatever you've got 'cos I'm not doing well here!Total Debt 13th Sept 2006 (exc student loan): £6240.06

Problem is, Storm, that I am doing exactly the same - pledging every day to do very positive debt busting things, but then, somehow never getting round to it.
so it would be a bit hypocritical for me to shout at you - perhaps we should shout at each other. Would be a laugh anyway!!Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
I've just managed to get myself completely confused with my bank accounts & budgets - was just double checking online banking & have no idea whether I've already counted the Quidco money in my savings to pay off the Egg card - it's about £28 that arrived this month, and my figures just aren't adding up. There's a couple of things not showing on the internet banking yet, but the difference is between having £110 left for food & frivolity (nice) or having £80 left (still nice, but tighter!)
My figures also aren't adding up for what I've already spent this month - out of a budget total of £400 for everything except for rent, car savings & household bills I only appear to have spent £260 - so should have £140 left anyway
I think I definitely need to get more bank accounts set up so I can keep stuff more separate - it's just driving me mad at the moment!Total Debt 13th Sept 2006 (exc student loan): £6240.06

Think I've got my head around this month's finances now (took a while I know!)
As at 17/08/07 I have...
- £85.03 left in my personal budget for August (inc food etc) with 2 weeks until pay day
- £30 arrived for switching gas & electricity supplier :T
- £163.44 saved up to go towards Egg when 0% deal ends
- 1 bid of £4.99 on an Ebay item (plus a couple of watchers on other things with 4 days left to run)
- £14.76 in my PayPal account (not yet counted towards Egg savings as don't want to withdraw until there's £50 there!)
A good money day for me I feel - my car insurance is going to be half what it cost me last year (though I may miss out on cashback) so if the MOT next week isn't too much I might even have some extra to throw at the cards from my car savings fund - finger's crossed!

MOT's been done - £350
At least I had the money saved up though - and got enough in the savings for the insurance next month too, so I can stop the car savings for a couple of months to put towards the CC's :TTotal Debt 13th Sept 2006 (exc student loan): £6240.06
