£350 - good job you had it saved up!!! And good to see that you can throw a bit extra at the credit cards.

Right, not been on much in the last week or so, and so a few confessions about to come out...

- I managed to mess up my budget, and haven't got quite as much saved towards Egg as I thought
- I fell off the wagon at the weekend and smoked about 50 cigarettes over 3 days
- I've overspent on useless stuff that I didn't need, I just wanted (though that carton of expensive smoothie was very nice & healthy!)

Basically had a very bad weekend, bad stuff reared it's head again & I went completely into self-destruct mode, hence the smoking & also far too much alcohol (just as well I've never done drugs really cos I'd have been on them too!)

This week I am determined to pick myself up again though - the smoking's been knocked on the head (only on day 2, but got to start somewhere!), I'm going to plan out my September budget later today as just got my payslip, and make a concerted effort to eat healthier, not drink and get some exercise this week.

Some basic sums I've done show that I can be debt-free by the end of this year, and I'm in the mood to think 'sod it' I'm just going to do everything at once - pay off the debt, quit smoking, lose weight and get fit. The last year has been very turbulent, and the bank holiday weekend kind of marked the anniversary of that for me, so as from now I'm taking it as a personal 'new year' and resolutions are made!

I'm glad I'm not the only one who had a moment over the weekend. I didn't overspend, but I found my motivation to get fit, lose the rest of the weight and really hit my debts again.

Good luck and you can do it!

Thanks Lucy & Hypno - I think I've almost had a second LBM, and this one's not just connected with the amount of debt I've got. I've spent a large chunk of the last year feeling very sorry for myself, letting things just happen to me and not doing anything about it. September is going to be a real start-over I've decided - I'm taking no more !!!! from workmates, friends, family members etc - time to stand up for myself a bit more I feel!

Good for you. I've been suffering for panic attacks and depression for the last few months and have been attending a course to help me 'deal' And I've realised that the only person stopping me doing anything is me. Which is why I got off my bottom and when for a walk/jog yesterday.

I bit of positive thinking goes a long way. LBM 2 sounds like a good way of putting it.

Lucy - you sound like I was earlier this year - my panic attacks have stopped, but the depression is still a battle sometimes. However, I really feel like I've had a bit of a breakthrough in the last couple of days, and although I know there will be bad days (and weeks ) to come I'm determined for this to be the start of an upwards trajectory (sp!)

One thing I've found key is getting straight on with things as soon as I get up. Slobbing around the the flat in my PJ's for 2 hours just makes me not want to do anything, and once I get into that mindset for the day it's a disaster!

Good for you on the walk/jog - I've just arranged to have a short walk with a colleague in a minute at lunch, which is a small step on the way to being healthier I feel! Your weight loss is fantastic too - have you stuck to one particular diet - any tips here gratefully received, haven't got working scales at the mo but think my goal is going to be about 4 stone to lose

I've been doing Slimming World. But I have been struggling for the last few months, which I've been putting down to my emotional outlook. But I do feel much better so I am going to run with it.

Every little helps!! just think what 15 mins a day would do.

The problem with depression is that it attacks self esteem, so you start not caring about what you eat, whether you exercise etc, which means you then feel even worse about yourself and the vicious circle continues.

Once you've started though the circle starts turning in your favour - a bit of exercise releases those lovely endorphins, a healthy diet reduced cravings etc etc.

15 minutes walking a day is definitely achievable for me - and comes to nearly 2 hours a week - gotta be good hasn't it?
