    Payday, hooray!

Just been working out my figures for this month, and it's looking pretty OK. Slightly worried about how much I've got saved up for Egg, though I think I'll just about get there:

Target: £1230.39 by end of September
    Saved so far: £436.62
Budget from basic wages at end of September: £380
    Payrise estimate: £96
    Overtime still waiting for: £100
2 months of 'car savings': £200

    Total: £1220.62 - left to get £17.77 :T

The overtime payment I'm a bit worried about as it's still not gone into my bank account today, so I'm going to have to keep chasing and will throw a strop at them if it doesn't arrive at the end of September!

The car savings I'm stopping for a couple of months as I've covered the MOT & insurance with what was in the account in August, and as the tax isn't due until the end of February I figured I'd just save a bit more after all the debts are cleared.

I've got about £30 in my PayPal account which isn't included in the figures as yet - I want to get to £50 before withdrawing it if possible so that I don't incur a fee!

All in all pretty positive I feel, I'm also hopeful that a load of books I put on Amazon & Green Metropolis might start shifting with the new uni terms starting (loads of old textbooks etc) and got some autumny clothes to put on Ebay too...

    I LURVE payday! :D

Hi, not been around for a while, as i've had various !!!!!! going on - looks like I'm going to be out of a job by January, so I'm kind of not sure whether to go all out to clear the remaining debt or stick to paying minimums as it's all on low LOB with M&S now.

I'm ashamed to admit that I'm smoking again too - the stress of the last month or so just proved too much. I'll go update my sig later, but need to pull the CC figures off my statements as I've lost track a bit.

Hope everyone's well, I'm off to have a bit of a catch-up read!

  • Lovely to hear from you again Storm, I'd been wondering where you'd got to. I'm so sorry you've been having a bad time recently. Poor you worrying about probably losing your job. But when one door closes another one opens(I think that's the saying:confused:) so there may be another job on the horizon for you at this very minute.

Look after yourself and try not to get too 'down'. You sounded so positive last time you posted and I hope you'll be feeling that way again soon.

Please don't feel you've got to cope with all the stuff life throws at you on your own. You can always come on here and get lots of encouragement and virtual hugs from all your readers. I'm sending you one right now.

    Take care

OK, the last couple of months have been interesting to say the least! Work has been all over the place, one minute I'm out of a job, the next I'm not etc, and it's getting to the point of wanting to just walk out!

In amongst all this I'm still smoking :( and have had a few mini splurges too - just updated my signature with this month's figures (money doesn't actually go in until Friday, but got the payslips today). Got just over £1200 to go now, and will be under £1K by new year, so very nearly there!

So... onwards & upwards I guess...

    Yes, we're still here :o

    Firstly, ALMOST THERE :j :j :j :j :j :j

Now, the rest of the stuff.......you have obviously had/got a lot going on. You can't deal with everything in a perfect way all the time. So, something has to give. For me it is my housework.........just can't get to grips with it while I am trying to tackle everything else - there is only so much energy to go around. For you it is smoking.......you simply don't have the right energy available to give up right now, even though you want to.

So, hang on in there, and be proud of the fact that you are facing stuff and not being beaten. If you do walk out, do so with your head held high and see it as the next step in your own personal journey.

Stick around, we are always here to rant/gossip/laugh/make excuses for not doing housework with.....:D

    Thanks Hypno :D

I get frustrated with myself for not tackling paying it all off this year like I'd intended to, and I think it's got to the level where I don't really think it's a huge problem so it gets put on the back burner for a while.;ll hav

Anyway, I've been very good in my planning for Christmas, though January may be a bit interesting as I've got a load of family birthdays! My target for this month is to get back to proper budgetting, cos it's slipped a bit in the last few months, and whilst January I won't be able to pay as much off as normal to get below £1K.

I'm going to do up a new SoA in the next couple of days, so will be asking for suggestions!

Just back from a couple of weeks off over Christmas, and quite a few things have completely fallen into place in my head.

I was fighting against admitting it, but for the last several months I've been fighting depression/stress type stuff, and with nearly 2 weeks off I can say quite categorically that it's work that's causing it. I'd got to the point of not caring about myself at all - hence I was overeating, started smoking again, not really paying much attention to my debt and generally taking out my mental misery on myself!

I realised just how bad I'd got last weekend when I suddenly realised I was back to being me again - Even though I had nothing specific to do I got up, showered & dressed and made something of my days (cleaning and hunting for a cheap replacement winter coat as mine had ripped!) Whilst this might not sound much, it's not that long ago that I would have just not even bothered with the shower (eeeew, I know) and sat around on the sofa all day watching TV.

Going back to work I can already feeling the stress descending on me again, and so I've made a decision.... The job hunting has got to crank up a gear, and I reckon I can have the remainder of my debt paid off by the end of March, so if I've not found anything by then I'm resigning anyway and I'll go temp again. I've shaved my monthly outgoings to about 2/3 of my salary, so I can stand to take a pay cut if necessary, and to be honest I think it's more important that I take a job with less stress than earn a 'good' salary at this point.

So, 2008 is going to be MY year I've decided - new job, debt free and only doing stuff that I want to do, not what others want me to do!

    Wish me luck!
