Morning all
Happy anniversary Mr and Mrs Mix
Scuzz I like your executive decision, I wish I could make one of those.
Tis Friday again so I must do the 36 mile round trip and take my parents shopping, I wonder if I can get away without stopping for breakfast this time! I must make a list before I go, I still don't need a lot though. DH is at work again tonight but at least it's Saturday tomorrow and I can have a little lie in if I don't sleep well tonight. We're still waiting to hear about this pay award so I'm not stressing out about going back to work unless we know one way or the other.
One quick question that is bothering me. I've sworn this year to spend as little money as possible but we've got the chance to have a shower installed for £300 including the shower and all cable etc, do I keep to my promise and not spend the money or do I spend out on something that would really make life easier for the whole family?Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Morning everyone
Happy Anniversary Mrs and Mr Mix
Hope your dd enjoys her first sleepover Catowen. I can still remember mine and I'm sure she'll be fine
Nothing much happening here. DS is still down with a stomach bug so yet another quiet day at home. OH stayed in London last night so I will look forwards to seeing him tonight.
The soup thread has inspired me to use up another of my monster gammon hocks I got at a bargain price. I am going to try and make a bean and bacon broth with no recipe (just using what's in the cupboards) so will see how it goes. It should be nutritious if anything.
OS wise it's dd's birthday tomorrow and so the house needs a spruce up as we will have visitors. I will also get some of her birthday tea ready. She loves Dora the Explorer and so I bought some second hand decorations off Ebay. They are sooooo expensive fully priced and I guess I saved 70% off the full price, they are also immaculate so I can't wait to decorate the living room when she goes to bed. She's turning 3 and this will be the first year that she is aware of what is going on
Have a lovely day everyone. Stay warm and hugs to all0 -
moggins if you all normally have baths then its not only money saving but you will be saving the planet too.!

Morning all.
Off to work in a mo.
Kids staying at Gran and Grandads tonight. DH and I just don't know what to do with ourselves. We'll find something!
Need to clean house from top to bottom this weekend. Mum is coming. AAAAA.
Need to do supermarket visit. And we need to go telly hunting.
Other than that it's all quiet here.

Morning all
Many of you sound as though you will be busy today so i should be feeling guilty but I'm not.
Tomorrow evening I'm going to my mum's in Essex to meet her cousin who has also been researching our family history. We are going to swap notes, information etc.....so today is going to be spent getting all my notes into a sensible order and printing family trees/ groups/ censuses etc., Really looking forward to it. I've also recently made contact with my mother's second cousin in the US and found a new whole branch of the family there.
Only down side of today is I'm waiting for a call from work to discuss my return to work as I've just been signed off until 5th Feb. Not sure what they are going to say.
Any way bye for now.....its off to work through all those notes!!!!We don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0 -
Moggins, sounds like money well spend, if your water metered some of it may pay for itself, depends on how many of you share the bath water! £300 doent sound bad to me, go for it!Pawpurrs x0

Never an easy one, and never an easy answer for anyone else to give, so I will try to put suggestions which may or maynot apply.
1 Financially can you afford the £300, only you know that.
2 Talking of cable, I presume you are talking about a Electric Shower. Is the one offered a big enough Kw to get hot enough/strong enough? Some of the cheaper ones are pants (No pressure).
3 If you have a gas boiler (particularly a combination one) then you don't need an electric one, just have a normal one connected to the hot water system and it will be cheaper to run. (You may need a pump if you don't have a combination boiler).
4 If you can afford it, but it just affects a savings plan, depending on what you are saving for you have to live comfortably.
Hope I've helped more than confused!

The price is really good which is why I'm so tempted. 4 years ago we were quoted £400 just for the electrician to wire it in, then we had to buy the shower on top and pay the plumber to plumb it in too. This £300 includes a 9.5 electric shower which will heat the water straight from the cold supply. Our hot supply is really poor and we always have to stick the hot water on for 30 minutes before we have a bath and then it takes about 15 minutes to half fill the bath. We've been talking about installing a shower for years as it would save us so much time. I have £90 saved now I just have to find the restOrganised people are just too lazy to look for things

Moggins - you lucky thing a shower!!!! and at £300 it sounds a good deal to me, think of all that water you would save rather than running endless baths!!
I am going to investigate if I can afford a shower now0
