    Quidco & Account Tidy - £2.73 OP
  • Don't feel guilty Lula... we've done our usual £11ish OP this month and that's it. We're not even creaming off any end of month leftovers for savings this month - instead we're blowing it as spending money on our wedding anniversary trip! No guilt what-so-ever. One month to allow some fun and then back to it in January.
    MFW: Nov 2008 £156k, Jun 2015 £129k, Jun 2017 £114k.

Back from the food shopping - most of which was done in Aldi - my favourite place for it. The remaining required items collected in Tesco. Spent £69 in Aldi and £35 in Tesco. I really struggle to spend any less. On the positive side, I did pick up some bits and pieces that I wouldn't usually buy with it being Christmas....
  • I have never ventured into Aldi. I may give it a whirl this weekend whilst I'm in my new enthusiastic state!

Are there particular things you'd recommend/avoid?

Rather optimistic mortgage free target :rotfl:31/12/2022

Hehe - I never thought I'd go to Aldi, but I have now been going there every week for at least a year. It's a bit of a PITA to go to two supermarkets but I now really love Aldi and we definitely save money every week.

I buy all of my fruit and veg in there, most of my meat (although we don't use that much), rice, pasta, chilled juices, cleaning products, washing liquid/fabric conditioner, loo/kitchen rolls, tinned toms (are fantastic, things like kidney beans, chickpeas, fishfingers, tuna, tomato sauce, salad cream, mayo, jaffa cakes, cheese, butter......

The only things we tend to avoid in Aldi are bread, breakfast cereal. And of course, some things just aren't available in there.

I'd definitely recommend and once you're in to the swing of how it works in there - like bringing your own bags, a coin for your trolly etc, then you'll be fine.

I tend to see more and more yummy mummies as time goes by iywim, more and more people are realising that it's madness to pay so much more in the likes of Tesco.

Lovely lazy morning and a coffee in bed, what better way to start the weekend?

Boys ave playing beautifully together and are still in their pj's - now watching bed knobs and broomsticks together - one of my favourite childhood films. Lovely to see them enjoying it too.

I did a little bit of cooking earlier..... Curry for dinner on Monday and a further 2 portions for the freezer. A well padded out chilli is currently simmering away - one meal for next week and again, a further 2 portions for the freezer.

We've got a busy few days coming up.... We have a Christmas party tonight with some friends - recycled clothes for DH and I but we will need to spend money on babysitter, taxi home and some drinks. Tuesday evening is the farm Santa nativity type thing - includes carvery dinner and is already paid for. Thursday is dinner with my business partner and his wife, this will be a company expense, so no spending there. Friday we are going to our local theatre for the Panto, already paid for. I've got some meetings for work thrown in to the mix next week too. And, need to bake and decorate 36 cup cakes for my little boys Christmas party at nursery....

I feel exhausted just thinking about it - I will therefore spend the rest of the day being lazy, recharging my energy stores.

Fingers and nails painted with fancy colour..... Just sitting around waiting for it to dry. Yawn....... No matter how long I wait, I always end up either chipping or smudging, just one of those inevitable things.
