Back from Spain........
Work wise it went very well, excellent feedback from clients and they are all very happy. Also identified a couple of business development opportunities, which is great......
I came home yesterday feeling quite poorly, so after the 2 hour drive back from the airport, I pretty much hugged the boys and then went to bed. Feeling a little better this morning.
On the bright side - Miami has been cancelled. Hurrah! So, I get to spend a few days with the boys during their half term holiday after all. I'll be going at the end of April instead which at the moment seems like ages away......
Received a charming letter from the tax man whilst I've been away - they do it every year - try and charge me tax on all of my expenses/company credit card payments.... They'd like £4k this time. So, need to speak to the accountant and get him to sort it out for me, again.......... It's an annual thing, grrrrrrrrrr
Quidco/Sainsburys finally approved my claim of £50 from may for my car insurance, so just waiting now for it to be "confirmed" and then I can MOP with it.
Hopefully on track to make my monthly budgeted MOP later this month after pay day......0 -
Spoke to the accountant re HMRC charming letter, he reminded me that we had already sent them a letter providing everything they needed more than a year ago, so it seems that HMRC make mistakes too. I think that perhaps they might like to just intimidate every now and then and be a pain..... Anyway, accountant will sort, so nothing for me to do (or pay!).
Just had a little nap and feel a bit better for it.0 -
Glad you're back lula and glad the school holiday trip has been rescheduled to a better time for you. Oh also glad HMRC got it wrong. AGAIN! (my tax code has been incorrect for yonkles, so looking forward to some form of rebate):T
Can you remember I mentioned my possible 'law of attraction' work thing? Well my boss told me on the QT that there's positive discussions taking place regarding my remit, and a new job title! (I am of course hoping this means increment also - I should find out around April time....hurray:T)
Hope you have a relaxing weekend ahead of you:)February13 - £74990 (or thereabouts)
MND - Let's go for 2020 'cos it's got a nice ring to it:D

Hurrah to the laws of attraction Natty - that's fantastic news, very pleased for you...... You just need to visualise a big fat payrise now..........
DH working tomorrow, so me and the boys - I'm sure that it will be far from relaxing but I can live in hope.......0 -
If it does all come to fruition, you'll be the first to know:D
My weekend will be spent cleaning, cleaning, cleaning, washing, cleaning, washing, and more stripping of course:pFebruary13 - £74990 (or thereabouts)

Hi Lula, sorry to hear you're not feeling well - hope the lem sip works.
Good news about Miami. I really didn't like travelling when the kids were young and it's such an emotional pull isn't it.

Glad all worked out with the trip. I agree with Dr Natty that an early night sounds like just the thing you need (says she who should really take her own advice

Didn't mean to worry you MC.
If it is something that is unseen (e.g. paying with cashback credit card, using quidco etc), then I'd do it with wanton abandon and not feel the slightest bit guilty about it. If you have to submit receipts which clearly show you have benefitted financially, then I'd simply check the Ts&Cs of your contract carefully to make sure you're not putting yourself at risk. Ultimately points and cashback should be a nice perk. Not worth risking your job over.
Lula, not sure if this will be of any use to you, but if you need to book hotels and can do so separately from any travel arrangements, consider hotels.com. You can still get quidco cashback, but they operate a scheme where if you book 10 nights through them (can be over multiple bookings in a year) you get a free night. Which could be a very cheap mini break for you and the family. We just used them to book our Dublin hotel for February half term. Found the site to be very clear and easy to use, cashback tracked with 24 hours, and prices very competitive.know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
Hope you're on the mend todayA positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort
