DS gone into school better today, had a chat with him yesterday and he is putting his underwear on himself this week then I am helping him with the rest, we will increase it each week till he is getting dressed himself...hopefully
Very cold here today, hens out and fed but need to go and "poo pick" in a moment lol
Meatballs and spaghetti for tea later, need to put BM in a mo as DH and DS have got through a loaf with breakfasts and packed lunches.
Have most of my Xmas shopping done online...just a few stocking fillers to go. Might wrap DHs 3 nieces presents this week and get them sent down to Kent.
Have made apple, sage and vintage cider sauce for presents for teachers etc and was going to do HM cranberry jelly to go with it but I need 1kg for 4 jars and they are £4 per 300g pack:eek:, so may make mint jelly or Nigellas Xmas chutney which has dried cranberries in...not sure which one.
I got a Gap denim skirt for 99p on Ebay last night so very pleased:T it is a 70s style one with the buttons that I have been after for a while.
BB i have a Sarah Raven recipe for onion chutney if you are stuck.
Tappers very glad you have made the appt;)
JackieG hope you are all better soon. Next time you do your shopping get stocked up on cold remedies...I always do this around oct/Nov time as i find you always fall ill when you are in a situation where you can`t get to shops:p:o

Right off for another coffee and sort the girls out
  • I did have loads npm, but sent Oh away with them in case he gets ill, forgot about myself as usual! :o I am feeling much calmer, made some soup and bread, and had a chat to Lou, and ate my porridge. Aldi have craisins on offer next week, I think they are dried cranberries? X

Tappers glad you are going to the doc, and I agree about your shifts.

Oh, ps npm, well done to Noah, that sounds like a much better way of doing things. X

Good Morning All. Not been around much lately so feel very out of touch with you all. Have just collected dogs from lovely lady in next village who looks after them if we go away.(We've been off since Thursday - work rather than pleasure, and very tiring!) Both are now curled up on their beds as lovely, lovely lady had taken them for a very long walk!
2nd load of washing is on, but don't think there's any dry in the air today. Have put the airer up in the conservatory but will have to use the TD as well, I think.
have realised to my horror that the CC bills have started to add up once more, so need to take time to decide best way to deal with those and really cut back once more. Hey Ho.
Nearly asleep over the laptop, so think I'd best get a further caffeine fix.
Take care - and ((HUGS)) to all who need one.
Just realised - not seen Essex-Girl in ages - anyone know how she is???

Dd got in a right stress last night over X-Factor her and her friend (who slept over) were shouting at the telly when Frankie got through:eek::eek:. Way to involved in it. They were even more annoyed when The Risk went out. Girls a , who'd have em;)

LOL it's not just teenage girls, you should have seen my FB status' last night :rotfl::rotfl:
Bitsy - Hope the talk went ok this morning, I've got 5kg of onion to make chutney - what reciepe are you making ?

It went OK, I may have a CM to pass them all onto so fingers crossed there. My onion chutney recipe is:
    2kgs onions
    750ml malt vinegar
800g soft brown sugar (but actually I think I shall just use white :o)
    1 tsp salt
    2 bay leaves
    2 tbs chopped thyme

if memory serves though I just used onions, vinegar, sugar :o:o tasted bl00dy lush to me and my mum didn't complain ;)

Been food shopping which just squeaked in under the £50 limit, mind you £2 belongs to stuff for my mum and £5 was a new dressing gown for DD for Xmas. OK she'll think it's a totally naff present but tough :rotfl:
So am slowly putting away shopping, got bread proving in the airing cupboard as quite frankly it's the warmest place in the house , need to vac, take DD to school, dust and a heap of other things. Mantra is though I HAVE ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD ;)

Not sure about tea. Something with pasta I think.

JackieG - in a pinch you can use a plastic card to scrape frost off, eg a tesco clubcard and the like. I don't recommend you use your debit card though in case you damage it :rotfl: works pretty well as I have done it myself. Feel better soon and I hope DS didn't get into trouble xx

NPM - well done Noah on the pants :T Baby steps is the way to go otherwise it's too much too soon xx

Tappers - glad you're going to see your Dr xxx

beemuzed - EG is around on FB so perhaps just a bit busy to post.

Hugs and spoons all round. Have a good day OS or not.

  • hi all

Have been mia lately OH's October birthday celebrations got in the way. Still it's November now and he is getting used to being 60.....

I have been lurking now and again and Bitsey do you put lids on chutney? Can you just use a wax disc and a film lid with a rubber band? I want to make chutney but I am a bit unsure.

Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Well hugs to all-Molly, Jackie O ,Jackie G ,Tappers,NPM and Bitsey (love the cakes!) Lou and Bramble and anyone I have forgotten.

    Take care.

    Afternoon all

Managed to get nearly 3 hours in town ALONE this morning - even had time to chat to a friend I saw in passing! :D

Since coming back from playschool we've had lunch, made the beds, put 2nd load in WM, DD has just put tv on for herself and I'm going to wash up, hoover the dining room and start sorting out toys for their pre=Christmas dejunk!

DS(19) has just gone for his practical driving test - hope he passes as he's worked really hard to afford his lessons and theory tests, although the downside will be the cost of insurance for him on our car! :(

Tea is going to be roast chicken thighs/legs, roast potatoes, various veg, yorks, gravy - bit much for a Monday, but all stuff we have in, so fairly cheap really. Missed a bargain in sainsbugs - 2.2 kg gammon joint for £10, less 15% for DS' staff discount would have been £8.50 - hope they've some left tomorrow! It would go in the SC and feed us all for a week, literally!

Hugs and kisses (and virtual whisky hot toddies!) to those with the lurgy - get better soon.

    A xxoo

  • Afternoon All

Just grabbing a few minutes to catch up.
It is one of those awful grey, drab days that really drag everyone down :(

So far I have scrubbed the kitchen until it gleams, hoovered downstairs, cleaned the downstairs cloakroom and tidied the front room and my bedroom (which is currently full of Christmas stuff)

We have the Olympic Torch passing through the town next year, even though the whole Sports thing bores me to death I will go down and see it, because it may never come again.

Chicken Italian style (Chicken, garlic, tomatoes, olives and peppers) tonight using the left over chicken from yesterday.

NPM :T well done on managing to get Noah dressing himself
JackieG ((((Hugs)))) I hope yousmiley-sick010.gif get better soon, take care of you for a change x
How is BIL by the way?

Tappers good that you have made that appointment :T
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
