Old Style Daily Thread for Monday 7th November 2011

Morning all,

Brrr colder here today,and looking out the window, there is a sharp wind, will get some washing done today, dd's bedding first I think.

DD is off on her first work placement this week, she is off to a home for people with dementia, should be interesting, although she does not think that's the area she wants to work in, its all good experience.

General tidy through today, and I want to make some cakes to take when I go and visit dad, I have been unable to go for a week due to being ill, so looking forward to seeing him.

I am then going to crack on with my xmas shopping, I do 90% of it online, so must get on.

I also need to work out what shopping we need for the next week, and either order it or write a list for later in the week.

Good morning, all. Mild here but spitting with rain and gloomy, so I shall be drying all the washing on the airer. I am definitely over the bug now, just having the odd coughing fit, but I can cope with that, especially now that it's not keeping me awake; tea and coffee seem to be the ideal treatment!

DH has now left for work, and I'm still playing catch-up with all the chores, mainly because I lazed about for most of the weekend.

I have lots of paperwork to do, some baking, a birthday present to wrap and post for my DIL1's birthday, and I thought I'd sort through the Christmas presents I've got so far; I'm hoping to get the rest of the presents I need this week but Christmas shopping in France is not the same as in the UK. There's very little choice (in fact, some of the toys, dolls and so on are really not very attractive at all!), and there are very few shops compared with the UK, so it's always more of a challenge. The good thing is that, as we are driving back to the UK for Christmas, it won't matter what I buy; usually I have to think about the cost of postage!

Dinner tonight will be sausages, onions, beans, and potato cakes - decided on the basis that I had lots of boiled potatoes left over from yesterday.

JuliaGeorgiana - I hope you feel a bit better today.

Morning All,

Didn't manage to read or post yesterday so hugs for those in need.

Had a great night on Saturday and the fireworks were fab, but had rather too much wine and spent yesterday suffering:o and catchin up with all my programmes

Today I have lots of ebaying to do and thats it other than a quick sweep around this morning.

DS3 has just informed me he is making pizzas today so que a frantic 10 mins finding ingredients and looking for toppings:cool: anyway he is all packed up ready to go.

Very frosty here so everyone has an extra layer on.

Morning all,
3 beds stripped and remade extra beds due to visitors staying. Wm & BM on. Not much cleaning to do today as DH and I cleaned up the party mess y/day so we plan to go out crimble shopping, I do most of it on line but somethings I can't get. I'm doing 3 hampers for DD1, DD2 and DGD1. DGD is in halls at Uni so will make sure she has lots of luxury stuff.

I have 2 huge pics that I need to get framed, lots of my clothes to drop off at CS, I've lost so much weight due to the ongoing illness. I've sorted out a pile of clothes I can alter but the rest will have to go. Hope do spend tomorrow sewing.
I must try to get lots done before the new roof is delivered on Thursday after that we will be working on removing the old one, I do hope the weather is kind to us.

Dinner will be the lamb curry that I made for Saturday not knowing about the supprise party it's still in the fridge. DH couldn't stop me planning and cooking for 6 without giving the game away. B/day cake will be pud with custard.

Morning all,

Feeling a bit sorry for myself this morning, have barely any voice, ds2 is ill, and i was hoping he would be ok after some medicine, but it looks like I need to take the day off work Oldest son's friend never turned up to meet him this morning, but usually if he's late the mother picks them both up and drives, but tgat neve happened either. I never noticed the time until five minutes ago because I feel so awful, so thought I would drive him as it takes longer than 15 mins to walk there, especially in the ice, but DH has taken the scraper for my car with him for his van, because it has a long handle, I had forgotten, and of course didnt have anything to do it with. So now son will be late for school, get detention and be upset all day. I am not able to go out, and there's nowhere nearby to send ds1 to get me one. I have text my hopeless sister to ask her to help me out as I dont have any adult medicine in the house but no doubt she will 'not notice' the text until lunchtime then she'll say she has no petrol because she wont do a thing to help anyone unless she's getting something out of it! And breathe. Sorry, I am feeling pretty awful, and OH not being here is wearing me out.

OS for today, I am about to make a big pot of lentil soup to sort out these germs, and may push the vacuum around if I can find the energy.

Morning ladies, brrr chilly chilly chilly this morn, popped heating on when I woke up a 6 for a wee;) so it was nice and warm for when the kids got up. Its off now though , and am wearing a few light layers to keep the warm in. I had a small shop delivered by tesco at half 8 this morn:eek:. Just the essentials , milk fruit and veggies and some other bits that were needed. Wont need to do any more shopping for a while now. Washing on, woofer walked, just about to load the dishwasher .My bathroom has been changed AGAIN:mad::mad:.They phoned me at just gone 8 to say that the workman who was booked in to do it has called in sick. I know its not his or their fault but still ITS NOT FAIR:(:(.They couldn't give me a new date.
Dd got in a right stress last night over X-Factor her and her friend (who slept over) were shouting at the telly when Frankie got through:eek::eek:. Way to involved in it. They were even more annoyed when The Risk went out. Girls a , who'd have em;)
So my day is all messed up now really, have to wait in for a Delivery from Evans .My friend is coming over this evening and is bringing a slimming world concotion for dinner for the pair of us.Boys are having spagbol.
Am going to have a trial run of a christmas cake recipie this afternoon. recieved my pudsey bear cake cases and cake toppers on Sat ready for the 6th form children in need cake sale.Ds put my name down as I use to make all the cakes and stuff for the christmas parties etc when they were in infants school, He was saying on friday how he was telling a friend about when I made a red nose cake for every child in the school ( about 450 children) one year. :eek::eek:. Think this time will be about 250 cakes.

Saturday lit a sparkler for my Nan as it would have been her birthday . We went to alocal display, girls loved it Spike hid behind me :rotfl:. Watched Cemetary Junction and drank red wine and lovely evening

Morning everyone,

I am a bit down today - I had a day off on Friday and have come back to so much work that I dont know where to start. I have made a rod for my own back to be honest, I never take lunch breaks etc and now it all seems to have come back to haunt me with everyone assuming I will do things or cover etc. Everything that no one else wants to do seems to have been dumped on me! Plus my boss is away so she can't defend me! I have realised you can be too nice!

So, the one thing I will be doing today is taking a full 1 hour lunchbreak - even if I dont need to! Sorry, I know that's petty!

Anyway, moving on, I have had a good, productive weekend and done quite a lot of my Christmas shopping and finished most of my jobs at home. I need to do some washing but there isn't enough for a full load so will do that tomorrow and iron on Wednesday.

Not sure what to have for dinner tonight - there is just me to think about tonight so I might have a look for something in my new unexpected lunch hour!

Morning all!

I have taken on board eveyones kind words and made an appointment to see the doctor. Despite feeling good all weekend - it took just a little chat to my sister this morning to bring back all the feelings again so I made a call quickly before I could talk myself out of it.

She said it was no suprise I'd been feeling stressed with all that has gone on. I was glad I'd told her - still got to tell DH yet, think I'll see what the doc says first.

Anyway enough of that. OS - celery soup defrosting for lunch. My sister has given me a bag of cooking apples :To I'm going to stew those up and make a crumble.
DH was given another big bag of lovely spuds by one of his customers who is a farmer.:T

I've changed the bed and hung some washing on the airer.

Washed the kitchen floor and tidied up.

Off to work later - staff meeting to get through then tomorrow we've a meeting with management to discuss shifts - I hope we can come to some agreement as I feel that thes shifts are a lot to do with how I'm feeling.
