Hi Alice, I know it must be terribly hard seeing a date that far in the future, but at least you have a date. If things don't change, you might never be able to get out of the rut - at least this way you have a date to work towards - and you can work at reducing that.

I am not sure of any other options I'm afraid as if you don't get the interest frozen and no more charges, you could end up far worse.

You have to do what is right for you and your family - and then we will all be here to support you whichever way you choose to do it.

I try to have an end goal in mind - I would like to be able to travel, there is a whole lotta world out there and I would like to see more of it with my hard earned money :D
    Just keep swimming!

Itsadogslife - thank you for your post and for being so supportive. Your right I don't think we have any other option and with a young family our options are limited. I'm sure once this DMP is all in place we can reduce that 15years.

Don't feel too bad about it all today (and I've had some dark days just recently). OH helping get info together to post to CCCS and doing letters to CC companies etc. Just waiting for new bank account details....hurry hurry hurry Mr New Bank!!

I will feel so much better when the new bank account is open and our wages are not being paid into a bank where we have a large amount of dept. I'm panicing that they will just help themselves before we can get sorted.

Will also get my signature sorted with fact and figures. I think it's great to see how well other people have done on their debt free missions.

    Good night all.xx

The form from new bank has arrived, just need to sign and return. Hopefully it wont get caught up in the Christmas post and we will have new account details asap.

Still concerned about OH wages going into 'old' bank account next week and the week between Christmas and New Year as we won't have the new bank details intime to get wages swapped and not sure what will happen when they get the letters about our DMP.

Also have posted forms back to CCCS with all the relevant documentation. Let's wait and see what they say!!

Having doubts tonight (even though I know our options were limited) on our decision. Six weeks ago when I started this diary I was in a bit of a state but I still thought we could get things sorted by ourselves. It became apparent quite quickly that that was not going to be the case. I'm sure I will feel better once everything is sorted.......just can't wait!!!! Sorry to go on but I do feel better once I've had a rant and a moan. :)

Will call new bank tomorrow, hopefully they have received our signed form so we can have the bank account details asap.

Have been on comparision websites to get quotes for home insurance. Will have to pay monthly but not sure how we can do it as we haven't got new bank details yet (I know I keep going on about it!!).

Still got to cancel DDs but don't want the bank to find out we are changing accounts incase they take our wages before I have chance to transfer to my sons account (I assume they can't take it from this as this account is only in my sons name).

As you can probably tell I don't like this waiting game.xx

Hi alice :) i'm also with the cccs and find them very helpful so good luck!

It's always a panic i think at the beginning until things start settling down, but believe me they will settle :)

I bumped into a friend today, our hubby's are in the army. her hubby is 4 ranks above mine so at least double the pay........she told me that they were budgeting and had debts coming out their ears (hubby's would never confess this to one another) and it made me realise that i wasn't the only one in trouble and that in this climate lots of our friends are..........and those that will get through it are those, like us, that have had their LBM before completely sinking

I'm off to subscribe and i wish you the best of luck :D dfw x

More 'unknown' phone calls today, they make me feel physically sick. :(

Will have to try and pull myself together this weekend. I have got loads of jobs and chores to do. Must write cards, start wrapping presents as well as usual household chores.

Hope the postie has delivered paperwork from new bank, still haven't got account number yet. Think we've done everything backwards, perhaps would of been better to open an account first, then contact CCCS and then cancel DDs.........oh well. xx

i also did the bank account last and then realised i should have done it the other way round! Don't worry too much, the ball is rolling, there is not much you can do until letters have arrived, bank account is in place & CCCS have written to creditors. There is a template on here somewhere that you can use ( I did) to write to each creditor and tell them you no longer wish to have contact via the telephone and they must contact you via post as that is the only way you wish to be contacted. Use the word, 'harrassment' a few times and you will find ALL calls will abruptly stop!

I also had the physically sick feeling, I really made myself quite stressed & ill in the beginning trying to cope and i look back now and realise I should have just gone with the flow. Even if you answer the phone to these creditors they can't do much. In the end i answered a few and told them to contact me via letter. I would not discuss my account any other way as I wanted to keep proof of everything said etc. To be honest I didn't have one person who was bad about it. A few were a little off hand but most were really kind and had heard it all a hundred times before and were fine.

Sorry long rant there. lol. Hope things start to pick up for you soon, dfw :)

    Thank you debtfreewannabe321.

I'm feeling much better today. My OH has been into the branch for our new account and they have given him the new bank account number and sort code....Yipppeee. Now his wages can be paid in on Thursday (which covers 2 weeks) and we can start to transfer all the DDs over.

I'm going to forget about our finances for a bit today and get on with some 'nice' stuff like wrapping presents. I have got some wrapping paper on 3 for 2 and the 3rd roll I got plain silver as I thought that could be used for birthday presents too.

We are getting there.....slowly, just wanted to say thank you to everybody for their support and words of wisdom.

    xx

P.S. I must remember to smile more :)
