Just to let you know I contacted CCS last year after finding it hard to survive and it was the best thing I have ever done as there was no other option for us.
You sound like your doing really well though and may not need to go down that road but they are so friendly and helpful that its nothing to be scared off if its the last resort. It lifted such a lot off my shoulders and I find Im living again rather than worrying about where the money is coming from to pay all the bills.
Although I am having a tight couple of months due to being on maternity leave until April.
Keep up all the super saving!0 -
snugglemunchkin - thank you for your post. Yeah we have talked about contacting CCS, at the moment we are just getting by but realistically I'm not sure if we will do it on our own. At the end of the day we have still got to live, and having 3 kids, running 2 cars, trying to pay all our dept off plus the everyday costs of running a house certainly push us to the limit.

Didn't have a NSD today as forgot about hairdresser coming round (not sure how!!).
Bad day on the finance front, I forgot about bank charges going out of the account today and have gone over overdraft, can't wait until Thursday when my OH gets paid and I get paid on monday. (I know I keep going on about payday).
Also have got the munchies today and have eaten everything I shouldn't, and lots of it too.
Bring on tomorrow.

OH got paid today (weekly pay), but it's more or less all gone. Had to pay one of the CC bills £160, both bank accounts overdrawn so down to about £36 and will need to pay one of the mobile phone bills tomorrrow. We've got enough petrol to last until Monday when I get paid, food sorted too so not all bad. LOL!!
Going to have another ebay blitz this weekend, everybody paid and just got to post 2 parcels today then start all over again. I am going to use the money in paypal to buy some christmas presents (I know in an ideal world is should be to paying of our debt but....).

I've been wondering how the people I work with manage to live within their means or are they in the same financial state as us. I am not going to our Christmas meal because that would mean spending £20 plus a new frock (heaven forbid I should wear the same thing twice!!). There is a person I work with who is always spending and everyday has a couple of parcels arrive, goes out at lunchtime and always comes back with a couple of new purchases, perhaps I'm a bit jealous and perhaps they are upto their eyeballs in dept too.
When I look down our road at all the new cars I just can't help but wonder how do they manage??? Now when I see peoples shopping trolleys crammed full I think WOW that's at least £150 worth in there but then that used to be me 2 months ago, how bizarre.
Not really feeling sorry for myself just having a little ponder on things............Oh well back to work, just got to get through this afternoon then it's the weekend...yay.xDMP with CCCS started Jan12 £34,906 Jan13 £31,893 Jan14 £26,836 Jan15 £21,894 Jan16 £16,839 Jan17 £14,415 Jan19 £12,938ish Jan19 £9,649 Jan20 £6612 Feb 21 0 Self managed from Jan'17

Hi Alice
Personally I think the simple answer must be that most people have high debt levels. When "average" debt figures are published they are exactly that, i.e. average, but when you take out the poor people at the bottom of society who simply can't get any debt & the top layer of fat cats, my guess is that the "real average" family simply has high personal debts, excluding mortgages.
You prompted me to do a bit of research...check out latest post on my diary if you wantPay off £14,000 in 2012 Challenge #21 (incl. mort.) £15,960/£14,0000 -
Hhhmm, I have a couple of thoughts on this also, I actually think that if I was debt free, and wasn't having to pay so much out per month on payments, I would be able to go out and buy bits and pieces without worrying about it. Also people have had different fortunes with house prices etc. I know a really nice lady who has a house worth quite a lot in our village, same age as me and the house must be worth double mine, but after chatting to her, they sold their house in hertford to move to here, so they probably moved from a 3 bed semi like mine but down there it was worth so much more it buys so much more in the midlands. Also if I look back, my first house I paid £72,000 for in 1999 but they are selling in that road now for £195,000.
I also agree and think a lot of people are in debt.Just keep swimming!0
