  • Good idea Beat the Debt, will certainly ask the question tomorrow. Haven't cancelled the DDs yet. Will have to ring one of the CC companies as over 3 days I have had over 30 calls from the same number.

OH going to advise his wages department of our new bank details tomorrow, hopefully his wages will be able to go into this new account from this thursday onwards. (Hope so as he is being paid for next 3 weeks on Thursday).

Have done some food shopping today, just about stuck to list although did buy some AA batteries that our nephews present needs. Got food plan for week sorted, although the 2 older children have finished school/college this week so are at home....eek they'll eat us out of house and home if we're not careful, hopefully they will lie in bed for half the day LOL.

Will go shopping again on Thursday just for the few extra's we need for Christmas Day. Youngest son at the childminders so will have to pay for full days this week, we've got a fantastic child minder so worth every penny.

Must sit down with OH and go through the budget, can't wait to get started properly.

    xx

  • Really lovely to read your diary from start to finish and see the amazing progress you have made in such a short time - you should be really proud of yourself and have a lot to smile about.

Thank you too Itsadogslife, still an emotional rollercoaster but feeling more positive. :)

Didn't have chance to check with new bank today about DDs but OHs wages department did confirmed that his wages will go into new account this week.

Still haven't received debit cards for new account which isn't a problem as I transfered my wages into my sons account. I have drawn out just enough cash to last this week but will have to arrange to transfer money to new account asap.

It seems really strange paying for everything in cash but my OH said he is finding it quite satisfiying (it's great having him on board now).

Just a little note on the weight loss - have stayed the same for the last few weeks but still a total of 9lbs lost since I started this diary. As we haven't splashed out on lots of goodies (just a few for the kids) for Christmas hopefully I won't put it all back.

  • Well done on the weight loss :T I would love to lose 9 pounds at this time of year. I am putting weight on just thinking about the mince pies lol!
    Just keep swimming!
  • mmmmm......mince pies. :)

Have contact new bank and they are sorting DDs, but it can take up to 3 weeks and as we are coming up to the start of the month when the majority of our DDs come out of the account I'm concerned they won't have transfered in time (all DDs from old account have been cancelled on the advice of CCCS). So will pay mortgage, utilities and council tax over the phone next Friday, as long as new cards arrive by then!!!

Looking forward to finishing work on Friday and not back until 3rd Jan, will be great to spend time at home with the kids and OH and recharge my batteries. The last few weeks have been emotionally exhausting, I can't possibly feel like this for the next 15 years!! LOL.

  • wow well done you on the weight loss! I would LOVE to lose weight right now, but have resigned myself to the fact it won't happen until Jan as i love chocolate, mince pies, wine & cake just a little too much :p:rotfl:

  • Thank you debtfreewannabe321. I love all those things too so will have to see how we get on over Christmas. ;)

Have just checked 'old' bank account and have charges and interest that have come out today of £57 from one and £36 from another so OH going to make a dash into bank and put those amounts in. Could of really done without paying £93 out at the moment. :(

Feeling fed up now, and I'm tired so that doesn't help. Need to contact CCCS for an update I think. Not sure what happens to the overdrafts on the bank accounts and the charges that occur.

    One step forward, three back!!

  • Had a call from CCCS this morning to advise that everything is just about in place. We are now on our journey to be debt free!!!

OH wages did go into new bank account which is great, but still haven't had bank cards so still using cash from my wages last week(which I strangely actually prefer all of a sudden).

Going to do food shopping tonight for veg etc for Christmas dinner but I'm not going to go overboard. I know the kids have had selection boxes as gifts so they will have lots of treats to munch on.

Looking forward to finishing work tomorrow.

  • Shopping mission complete.......spent a little more than I wanted but should have enough food and drink to last until next weekend (and more once I've got menu plan sorted).

I have also started to save £2 coins, upto £8 so far. Hey, it's a start!!
