Isn't it a relief when the OH finally 'gets it'. Makes it so much less stressful for you.

boo hiss about the hours going down. Hope that you can do something to make up the short fall. One thing he can do, is get onto the survey sites. Because he is male, I am sure he will be screened out less as they need to have a cross section of the population, to make the survey valid!

I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
  • DFW321 - My OH is the other extreme when he goes shopping he will stick to the list and even if he thinks we might need something he sees, if its not on the list, it doesn't get put in the basket. I feel bit sorry (only a tad!) for him at the moment, he's still at that stressed and fretting stage, the stage I was at 6 months ago but not as bad as I was.

chevalier - Thank you for the survery idea. I did see a post on here with a list of the good/better sites to try, will try and find it and suggest it to him.

DS1 failed his driving test this morning, that's another £62 to take the test again, plus £40 for lesson before hand and use of car for test. :(

    Better get back to work.xx

    Hi Alice,

Boo to DS failing and double boo to how much it costs for another test etc!
Is there still a huge back log? When I did mine it took about 7 weeks to get a date to do the flipping thing xx

    Hi Alice,

i found your thread for the first time two nights ago, and since then i have been glued! just finally caught up now and wanted to say that you are doing fantastically and have given me the kick up the bum to tighten my budgets further to get more debt paid off asap. i am a great fan of counting up my nsd s too- it keeps me motivated!

    will subscribe to your thread

keep going youre doing great :T
  • Mummy - The next available date is about 6 weeks away, so no not much of an improvement, but he's all booked to do it again now so the countdown begins.

malmesbury -Thank you, I'm on a bit of a high at the moment, even with OH on reduced hours but at least he is on board now. From the look of your signature you are doing great. Good luck with the NSDs too.

Still only managed 5 NSDs, went halves with DS1 on his next driving test today.

OH has said he'll give the surveys a go.......must get them sorted asap.

Off to update spending diary with DDs etc that have come out of account over the last few days. xx

  • Managed a NSD today - number 6 but need petrol tomorrow and get DS2s bits for cooking.

Down to £9.25 in account, OH gets paid tomorrow (first pay of reduced hours) and we get TCs on Friday. I can't wait for the tax credits renewal to be sorted/confirmed.

Weather has been pants all day then about 6 o'clock the sun came out, tomorrow morning should be dry so will peg out first thing and hopefully DS1 will be here on 'watch the washing' duty until lunchtime.

Had a lovely stir-fry for tea with veg from A1di. Have always struggled with fruit and veg from there, but this week they have retained their freshness. lol :)

  • Have just checked bank account and OHs wages not as bad as I thought as he's been paid his last lot of overtime (which I will transfer into our emergency fund pot before I spend it). Also we've had our TCs a day early, wonder what thats all about.

Anyway we've got a bit of sunshine this morning, hope you've all got some too.xx

  • Hi Alice,

well the sunshine lasted here too ...until about 11am then the heavens opened! i think i will have to check the calendar as if feels more like january than july- i even had to use the tumble dryer today which never happens in our house (i am always scared about what it will do to the electric bill!) but i am so sick of having to dry washing in the house :(

glad oh's wages arent as bad as you thought and you are so much more organsied to deal with these changes now, as i have read your whole diary recently, its really positive to see how you dealt with the thought of OH's wage reduction compared to how much set backs like this worried you only a few months ago- its great, you have come so far in such a short space of time:T

anyway, waffling over, i just wanted to second the idea of survey sites, i have been doing them for about a year now and probably redeem about £20 a month, without doing too much really, ( i am no obseesive about them!) but it all adds up and can help with food shopping/amazon presents/ clothing etc. the hardest part is once you redeem you have to start collecting points all over again which can be a bit demotivating at times.

anyway better get off to bed

    take care alice x
  • Well rain again tonight . I feel like I'm obsessed with 2 things at the moment - the weather (so I can dry the washing) and money!!!

Thanks malmesbury, I'm feeling quite positive at the moment. I know what you mean about the washing, I managed to get 3 loads dry yesterday, more by luck than judgement. :) Will definately start doing the surveys when I get minute and get OH doing some too.

Yesterday was a major spend day. Put £20 petrol in my car, spent £62 at sburys only went in for DS2 bits for cooking but ended up with a major shop, washing power back on offer so got 2 (45 wash Ariel £8), cat food, deo and toothpaste on offer too so stocked up. Got £50 cash out, paid childminder, put £10 in bday card (no cheaper present alternative unfortunately), paid work lottery, DS2 and DS3 had McDs and I've about £4 left.

Anyway today was a NSD number 7, still on target for at least 15 this month.

Tomorrow DS2 and DS3 should be going to a football tournament but as its pouring with rain can't see it being on, will wait for a phone call.

    xx
