  • Looking like NSD number 3/30 :).

This week seems to be going so slow because we've got a long weekend coming up and I've got next week off work.:j

I realised last night that I'd paid PPI on a store card that I'd had, so I've printed the forms and I'm going to fill them in tonight. Doubt I'll get much back but every little helps. Also going to speak to Building Society about claiming our mortgage exit fee that we paid when we moved into our current home.

I keep feeling the need to go food shopping but I'm going to hold on until the weekend when I've had chance to do a stock check and meal plan. OH nipped to Sburys on Saturday for a few essentials so we've got enough milk, bread etc to last the week and the cupboards/freezer have got plenty in ............just old habits die hard. xx

Hi Alice; Found your diary a couple of hours ago(whoops) and would love to jpoin you if that's ok. I could relate so much to your comments about the emotional rollercoaster of debt busting, but I guess over time it becomes a way of life.
I've been on my DMP with CCCS for nearly 2 years now and was the best move I made. Find these diaries a great source of inspirartion and motivation, sometimes it's the simplest things that make a difference.
Also am an Aldi fan makes a big difference - so far the only thing I haven't liked is their wine - too watery:eek:like to feel I have had an alchol fix sometimes:rotfl::rotfl:

    Hey Alice,

I'm totally with you re the whole emotional side of things with the children. I am the same. Mine rarely ask for anything but I want to keep their clubs going, but with them comes equipment etc ,but none of this is their fault and I dont want them to suffer, so I totally understand your feelings. My two know things are tough for now and seem quite at ease with it all to be honest. I'm glad you decided to go with the season tix for DS, If it were me and I had decided against it , I then wouldnt have slept for days with the guilt !! :o

Keep us informed on the PPI front, I am still on credit card charges but PPI and Exit Fees are next on my hit list ! Oh and mummytogirls, well done to you and your DH on the payout, its always lovely to hear a positive story !

robsmum, I too am off the A£di wine after a disatrous taster of some random British Wine a few nights ago. Truly horrible !! x

  • Mummy that is fantastic news, well done. I've filled in the form for storecard PPI, thats ready to post. I've spoken to Building Society about the exit fee we were charged and yes we are entitled to getting it back but we will have to write a letter to them. So will do that tonight.

Welcome robsmum, I am truly addicted to these diaries and this website. I am getting used to A1di, and the list of stuff we get from there and not sburys is growing. I need to find a L1dl as I heard good things but there isn't one close to us.

Pinot I'm glad I've had positive feedback on the season ticket for DS2, although i feel a bit guilty about getting it no where near as guilty had I not got him one. I noticed you posted on your diary about keeping up with all the diaries, i really try to too, I don't always have time to post a reply but always tick the 'thanks' button whenever i can.

DS1 has called to say the boiler is fixed and serviced and he's asked if he could put the heating on as it is freezing at home (he said he's got 2 jumpers and a jacket on but was still cold), we haven't had it on for quite a few weeks so I couldn't be that cruel, so its on low for the rest of the day. :)

Need to do meal plan and shopping list tonight.xx

Yay to the news about the exit fee on the mortgage. Hope it comes through quickly :j. Yay to the boiler aswell, your DS made my heart melt asking if he can switch on the heating. Most teenagers wouldnt even ask, shows your good parenting :D xx

  • Thanks Mummy, we've tried our best with the boys, they aren't angels all the time, they do have their moments but generally they are well behaved.:)

Beans on toast for a quick tea tonight as the in-laws are coming round. I'm going to be really cheeky and ask them to drop some Easter eggs off to our nieces and nephews to save on a bit of petrol, as they are going to see them at the weekend. My OH's sister and brother don't drive so we always end up going to them and we do always see them when it is their birthdays. I'm just trying to be economical.......or tight depending on how you look at it!!! xx

  •:mad:In-laws didn't come round in the end because my niece needed a lift somewhere.
I could rant on for hours how everytime my in-laws are coming here another member of my OHs family need 'something', and as I've mentioned they don't drive. Well my brother in law does but his car is off the road because they can't afford to run it.
But they can afford takeaways nearly every night, my SIL has her nails done, hair extensions etc etc. My nephew has all the latest trainers and computer games. Their washing machine broke down over 12 months ago and they haven't bothered to fix it because they live not far from my in-laws and they do the washing for them now, which annoys me because they are on a meter for electric and not once has my SIL offered any money for electric or soap powder or even got anybody in to look a the 'broken' machine.
They are upto their eyes in debt (like us but at least I am doing something about it), even had the bailiffs round (which my in-laws paid) but they still live the takeaway/nail bar life style. They just take, take, take from my in-laws.
    Sorry rant over.xx

    Debt-free and Proud!
Sorry to hear this Alice..it doesn't seem that they even seem grateful for the help they get. Very unfair as you say.

To me the main thing is that you are sorting things yourself..not being like a child and relying on the 'adults'

Oh dear Alice, unfortunately when they can rely heavily on others and get away with it some people will do it. I have a cousin still 'sponging' off my auntie and uncle at 29! The parents need to foot their foot down!

Hope your feeling better today xx
