Hi brizzle, done that before now.:rotfl: Yeah OH still very much on board.:)

Called AA today, got cover reduced to £36.:)

Went to charity match, we had every sort of weather possible. Thankfully didn't put people off and we had a great afternoon to be honest.

Looking to have our first NSD of the month tomorrow.

I've been reading posts regarding going self managed. Some post say to call the companies up and let them know we're not going through SC anymore, some say write a letter. I couldn't find a template anywhere (maybe there isn't one!!).

Not sure what to do about bcard. Do I make payments of £51 so they hopefully reduce interest or do I make token payments to them? At the moment it is only bcard that I'm overly worried about. Nothing will change for the others.

This months DMP payment will be back to £475.

    Xx

    Hi Alice,

If you work through the self managed dmp on NEDCAB it produces letters for you to send. It also works out the payments for each creditor but I stuck with what I was already paying via SC.

Hi Alice, been reading through your diary, you are doing so well!

Self managed sounds like the way to go, but as Barclaycard are still paying interest, how about paying them token payments of £1 for a few months, and keeping the £50 aside to make some lump sum payments to get rid of your smaller creditors?

Thanks Puzz, I shall have a look at that. Sounds like a plan, I was going to pay everybody the same apart from Bcard.

Thanks for the post Golightly. It's a struggle at times but I've got to keep plodding. :)

If I only pay Bcard token payments will they ask for a SOA? Then they'd see that I could feel paying them more. I certainly like the idea of been able to get rid of the smaller debts. The smallest at the moment is just over £100.

    Still only had 2 NSDs.

Yesterday went to get food bits, spent £43:eek: Just on 'bits'. Got petrol £30. Paid £25 for last of subs for DS. Paid for football presentation tickets, we have 2 different nights to go to, £10 each for me and OH per night.

Today went to sports club, ended up staying after the game and spending a small fortune in the club house.

Managed to get 3 loads of washing dried this morning, luckily we came home just before it started to rain. Had a thunderstorm earlier too.

Had to order cutlery holder for dishwasher. Not quite sure how ours got broken. :(

Out tonight at a wedding reception, max spend £15.

I'm sure somebody more knowledgeable will be along in a minute, but I think you can just tell them you are doing token payments without much of an explanation or sending an SOA for at least a couple of months, and if they are not happy they will default you and interest will stop, which is what you are aiming for.

Lots of people doing the same thing on the DMP mutual support thread with Barclaycard, because they are such pains with the interest. You have to play hardball with them and stop worrying about trying to please them. :D

Personally I would manipulate the financial statement to show that you don't have money available to pay them more than you are offering so you would in effect have 2 financial statements - one for all creditors and one for BC.

If you need help with getting rid of some income to show lack of funds give me a shout as I can provide you with trigger figures!!

Or you could try not sending a FS but I think they will ask for one and if they don't get it they might keep ringing and I know that will be stressful for you.
  • Thank you for the posts Golightly and EE. Well the inevitable has happened, because we only paid bcard half last month I have received a 'payment reminder' from them.

Usual stuff I would imagine...if I don't keep to the plan the arrangement will be cancelled, I'll be charged standard interest rate etc etc.

What do I do now? Next month I am going self managed....gulp! Do I make £1 token payments or pay them £50 which is the payment figure for no interest charges?

I've found the template letter to inform everyone that I'm going self managed (thanks puzzcat). Will get them sorted as soon as possible.

All this self managed malarkey is beginning to feel very real. I want to get started but I'm feeling very nervous.

We are up to 4 NSDs. Need to go shopping tomorrow, also need to get hair dye.:o We are all in need of hair cuts.

Tomorrow will pay works lottery, both cars need petrol too.

The reminder you got is just a standard computer generated letter.

If you need to build up your emergency fund I would only offer BC (and all the other creditors if you want) £1 per month for a few months.

If you don't need to build an EF up then I would be offering £50 and making sure the FS reflects this.

It's natural to feel nervous as it's all unknown but after a few months you will wonder why you didn't do it before. We are all here to support and hold your hand!!!
