  • Thanks Dolphin, still feeling optimistically positive today (that doesn't sound right but I'm sure you get my drift). ;)

Today was a NSD. :) Heating still off.:)

Tomorrow OH needs to pay lottery. Need to order school photos, cost £10 max. Half term next week, need to pay 3 full days childcare, cost £75. Also need to get petrol, £30.

  • Last night I went to supermarket for a few things, ending up spending £53. Then we ate out, cost £26. Fell off the wagon big time. Went to bed feeling pretty brassed off and guilty.

Woke up this morning feeling more positive. Just a little blip I hope.

Back on track now. C'mon Alice you can do this.:)

    Xx

I always feel guilty if we eat out and it is not a birthday/special occasion.

I actually enjoy the food but as soon as I get home the guilt starts and then I chastise myself for being weak and giving in to the family and then spend all night adding up how much it would cost for me to cook at home:rotfl:

Then I have regrets for a few more days and then I get over it!!

I agree with Dolphin, when you are in it for the long haul you need some treats every now and again.

We still have our heating off but washing like jeans and hoodies are taking 24 hrs to dry - I don't think it helps that DD's bedroom now has laminate and not carpet as I am sure the room used to get a lot warmer with the pipes etc when we have the hot water on for a few hours each day.
  • Thanks EE, it is such an emotional roller coaster this debt marlarkey but then so is life I suppose.:)

Our heating is still off. Anybody still with me and EE on this 'leaving the heating off until November, just put another layer on' challenge? Did peg 2 loads out yesterday, dried about 80%.

OH put £20 petrol in other car yesterday. Spends today [STRIKE]should[/STRIKE] will be low. Taking a flask to sports club to save some pennies.

Need to speak to Bcard over next few days, need to check they have received info from stepchange and if I can get last months interest refunded.

  • £1 spent this morning at the sports club, we had a go on the charity scratch card.....didn't win but heyho.:)

Have done meter readings, we are £17.86 in credit. We have used £18 in the last 2 weeks. Not sure what's caused the increase, having the lights on more, I've straightened my hair a few times, game console been on more......who knows!

Washing machine on again, think we'll have to put heated airer on. Not classing that as having the heating on though.:rotfl:

DH is in a funny mood today and has decided that the lounge carpet is damp as we have no heating on  so he asks DD to put it on . I quickly put the thermostat down to 16c and I could feel myself getting hotter and hotter as I have a roll neck top and jumper on so I feel the radiators and they are not even on:rotfl:

So I check the thermostat and it won't click on until 17c as that is the temperature of the lounge already (with no heating).
I made the mistake of telling DH and he said to put the thermostat up as he is cold . I then thought what if the heating is broken so I put it up to 20c and did some washing up (5mins), checked the radiators all work and now I have switched the heating off and DH is none the wiser:rotfl:

I have removed my jumper and am still boiling so clearly DH needs to wear gloves in the house:rotfl:

Tonight the temp is due to drop to 4c but as that will be when we are asleep I am hoping we can manage without it.

I have loads of washing to get dry and it has rained today, tomorrow is looking better so towels and jeans can go out tomorrow and hopefully they will be nearly dry by 4pm. (I have done some washing which is on the airer and some hanging from door frames!!)

The bathroom is quite cold before the bath is run but if the door is kept shut while the bath is running the steam makes it lovely and hot but when you get out it is a race to dry and get jammies on before you get too cold:rotfl:

I really do need to get a life:rotfl:

We still have our heating off, we were planning to keep it off until November but as that is only a week away I'm not sure if it will be going on then as it is so mild still. The children haven't started using hot water bottles yet or wrapping up in a blanket to watch tv or any of the other bits and pieces we usually do to put off having the heating on.

Where possible we are still pegging out, managed to dry 3 loads on Thursday, on the days when we do need to dry the laundry inside we hang it out in a small room and put the dehumidifier on, to prevent damp problems in this old house.

Dh gets up at 5am every weekday morning so our heating has been going on for an hour and a half at 4am in the bathroom and our eldest son's room which DH uses as a dressing room. DS is away at uni. It then does a short blast at midday to make sure towels are dry. I've been lighting the fire almost every day for a few weeks to take the edge of the chill. It doesn't go on anywhere else.

AliceInP, my DH used to manage DS2s footie team and I would frequently take flasks of coffee and hot chocolate and bacon rolls for us on the touchline.

I hope your DH has snapped out of his mood today. Our husbands must be related, my OH is always cold and I'm (normally) warm.

Hope you managed to peg out today. I did although it wasn't quite dry when I got it in about 3.00, have filled the airing cupboard, ironed what I can and that's hanging in the door ways.

    I know how you feel.......If I'm not debt busting I'm peddling out.:rotfl:
