  • DFW could be, I still couldn't get on earlier. I'm desperate to find out where we are at. I know, I know very sad.:D

DS1 can't work in the States but he's got the chance to go to Canada. I'm not sure how it works there will certainly check. When he's been to Europe he's picked up some work, I know he's certainly trying to do his bit. Fingers crossed we'll sort something out.

    Today was NSD11.

Did the housework (the best I could with the little vacuum, good exercise though!) OH cut the grass, DS3 has played in the back garden practically all day, we had a lovely Sunday roast (so I say so myself :D), and I've just stood and done all the ironing.:)

  • I hate it when the t6011.gifbreaks - it's one of the most crucial things to keep a household running - I would say on a par with the cooker and washing machine.

I know it's not ideal but could you cut back on your debt payments for a year so that DS can afford another year away?
If it really is a once in a lifetime opportunity then he should really do it.

Have been loving the weather this weekend - have got quite a bit of washing dried. Today is annual leave (I have so much to use up) and this is me so far:

  • EE you have had a busy morning, that did make me chuckle. Well done on getting the washing dried. :) Shame you've spent a days holiday doing housework though.:(

Totally agree with you on the vacuum. I am going to see if we can get it fixed though, it wasn't cheap to buy so hopefully it would be worth it.

I have thought about reducing the debt payments, but I don't know if 'to fund DSs education' is a viable reason?? Will have to ask the question.

On the money front I managed to submit the meter readings just. We have used £40 in 2 weeks.....a definite improvement. So it is paying to sit with 5 layers on and no heating on shivering every night.:rotfl:

  • EE I love the smilies!! :rotfl:

Alice when ds1 was at boarding school I could reduce debt payments as education was a need not a want. I was worried about telling them but they didn't seem fazed so I think they must hear all sorts, certainly give them a call and ask that way you can relax on the brain ache you get from trying to magic up money from nowhere (been there done that ;) ) xx

  • Thanks DFW for the good advice. :). We're certainly not going to be able to magic the money up from thin air so I don't know what I'm waiting for. :(

The car is back and we are £175 lighter.:( Really don't want to even think about it but it is done now. Have begged, stole and borrowed from all the 'pots' so really we are back to square one now.

Whilst we are on the money front, Monday was NSD 12, yesterday paid for the car and tonight OH is going to go to the shops to get cereal, milk, bread, and a few other bits. Will ask him to get petrol too, just £10 to last until payday. Have asked him to go as I know he will stick to the list.:D

Heating still off and dried 2 load of washing on the line today.....happy days.:)

Still need to sort out getting vacuum looked at!!

  • if the vacuum is beyond repair Vax are having a sale. If you type in vax sale you need the code which is MSE15. I bought a new one and including delivery charges and some smelly bag things to go in the hoover it was £46. I think there were cheaper models too?! Hope you sorted out the SC payments and were able to make some money for ds. :)

  • We're not sure about the vac DFW. 'we' think it could be the motor. I haven't had chance to ring anybody to checkout getting it repaired but to be honest I think it may cost more that £46. Will check out the vax.....thank you for the tip.:)

Haven't had chance to sort out DSs funding either.....work has just been getting in the way!!

    Spends today £35 petrol, £20 cash, £85 food/toiletries/cleaning stuff/cat food shopping, £2.80 @ sports club and £9.50 on lunch.

Pegged out before we went out this morning, it did rain but by the time we got back the washing was just about dry again.:). Have had the heated airer on tonight just to finish it off, and we had the heating on for a few hours tonight as the kids had friends round.

I must update spending diary tomorrow (too tired now). We start to pay the council tax and water rates again from 1st April.

We've got to pay a full weeks worth of childcare but I've booked the other week of half time off.....can't wait.:)

Not for bank holidays. This half term we'll pay £25 per day.

  • Today was NSD14.

Yesterday I updated spending diary/budget. We didn't have the heating on but did have the heated airer on through the night.

I've done another 2 loads of washing so will have the airers out tonight/tomorrow and then use the heated airer tomorrow night.

OH had a slightly different letter from Bcard, although the content was the same it was more menacing. "Pay up or we'll take it further".:T

Have looked at the vax website (thanks DFW). They had some good deals, but I just can't bring myself to spend the money. Especially when we do have a vacuum.....albeit hard work to use.:(
