I'm not a bit fan of wedding anniversaries. Following OH's antics I decided a long time ago our wedding vows are worthless. Shame because when I look back at our wedding day we had such a lovely day with family and friends. Nothing fancy and we had a fab party on the evening, the early years were great......those were the days eh!
It's is my MIL (not my Mom) that would gossip about of money woes. My siblings are shall we say.....successful! To save face I won't mention our finances.
Sometimes my Mom just doesn't think......wonder when I'll get like that.:D
Thank you for your lovely words and hugs. Really appreciate it.
Xx
We had agreed £20 to spend for anniversary and then my present idea fell at the first hurdle so I told DH not to worry and we would just get a take out. He agreed then announced that he needed to go to nearest town - he has got me a present:eek: and now I am not sure what to do for him. Was thinking Paypal voucher as he loves ebay so much:rotfl:
It is a farce really but is a good excuse for an Indian:T
You are also successful Alice, you are a lovely, kind, caring person with grit and determination who has brought up your lovely kids and you have a job you like. Success is not all about money.
Look at your debt free journey - you are very successful with this.
Too be honest I have not told anyone about our debt although my parents don't have any money to give us anyway.
Have a good Sunday - fingers crossed you get some more washing dry. I am not pegging out today as we are due rain by 4pm.0 -
Just wanted to quickly add that I haven't been successful recently on the Aldi$ front. Chicken breasts I bought smelt very gone off with a few days still left on the date. My husband loves crumpets for breakfast, bit into one and it contained gold foil the like used for pies....YUK! Also, why does their mince go brown in the fridge even when its still in date?????0

I can sympathise with you on the food/petrol front. I have 2 very active teenage boys who are just complete food hoovers, and a daughter who doesn't seem to eat so much. One of my sons even admits to never being full up and sometimes their dinner is served on 2 plates! I know it sounds ridiculous but I sometimes 'envy' those that can get away with spending only £70 a week on food. I meal plan and try to stick within budget as well but its not always easy. Also, DH is still in the mindset of wanting to see full cupboards. Alarmingly, I think 2nd son is taking tips from him and will say "there is nothing to eat" when clearly there is always stuff for sandwiches. The constant fridge/cupboard door opening drives me crazy at times!!!
The eldest was an amateur boxer for 4 years which meant travelling up & down the country for fights which meant huge expenditure on petrol. I was also never very good at making lunches to take with us. Throw in football training/matches 5 times a week and the fuel consumption adds up!
I hope you have a restful Sunday and best wishes x
Thanks Penny, I share you pain too over keeping OH, the kids, the cupboards and fridge full. We have got quite a generous food budget on our DMP, but any money 'left over' I send to DS1 who's studying abroad.
Your house sounds like ours, loads of travelling to sports events and like you say the spends on petrol soon add up and even if you take packed lunches that can add up too....not to mention takes over your life.PennySaving wrote: »Just wanted to quickly add that I haven't been successful recently on the Aldi$ front. We've had 'grey' chicken from @ldi too. I only get fruit and veg if we are going to use it within 24hours. I find our @ldi a bit disorganised now. It seems the more they stock the messier the store.....or am I just being picky?!?:)

Happy Anniversary EE. Well done for sticking with it.;) Did you go with the paypal voucher? Hope you have a good peaceful day. Enjoy your Indian.:)
Thank you for your kind words, made me blush. I do forget what I've got sometimes.:o
P.S. No pegging out yesterday. Rained from 11.00am onwards. We had the heating on for 5hours again yesterday. But it was a NSD, number 13. Today should be one too.:)

That's fab BB. I can't wait til we can peg out successfully in the week. :rotfl: I'm so easily pleased.;)
Today was another NSD, number 15. Quick and easy tea tonight, fish fingers, peas and chips.:)
Things have settled down between me and OH. We've just gone back to plodding along.
Must sort car tax out for both cars. Thinking pay tax for one in full, then the other monthly. If we did this on the cheaper one we would pay an extra £7 overall. Also must call about mobiles, see if we can get them down a bit. Currently paying £90 per month for all of them (x4).

I couldn't see where to get Paypal vouchers so ended up buying him some bits off Amazon that he wanted but of course they were only ordered at the weekend so he could not have his present on the day. One of the items has turned up tonight.
The Indian was very nice!!
Did some pegging out yesterday but it was the high winds and most of the towels ended up on the floor but all but the 2 thickest were dry so that was good. We are going through no end of towels and bedding while the dog is in season so I am grateful for the good weather although today and tomorrow is heavy rain although it should be 10degrees tomorrow - hope it keeps warm.0 -
Woop Woop it's the weekend.:)
I've had a busy couple of days.......and some big spends!
Made it to 16 NSDs. Worked late again on Wednesday. Yesterday paid lottery, went to sburys spent £32, got cinema voucher for a present, also purchased a heated airer. A totally impulsive buy but........:o. Will only put it on at night and will keep an eye on the electric meter.
Haven't had the heating on for the last few days.:)
Today I purchased a b'day present from an ebay shop £9.99. For the other March birthdays one present I got in the Xmas sales, one is the cinema voucher and the other I need £10 cash.
Have sent DS1 £50 and tonight went to sports shop and got DS2 his trainers £32.99.
Also had a chippy tea tonight. Will class it as March's treat but a bit early.
Taxed cars, one car paid for 6months tax and the other paying for the year over 12 months.
According to the forecast it won't be a pegging out weekend.....we'll have to see, fingers crossed.

Sunday morning already.
Yesterday went to sports club, kids played football then we stayed at the club for a few hours. I was just chatting to some of the other Moms and it was interesting to hear what they are going through in their lives. Their financial problems, relationship challenges, etc etc. I didn't say anything about us but I was just intrigued to listen and it sounded so familiar. It wasn't all doom and gloom we did have a really good laugh. I came home feeling happy.
We did spend £20 though.:(
This morning I've pegged 2 loads out. Done meter readings, we have used £50 in 2 weeks. Haven't had the heating on as much but the heated airer has been on overnight.(Still feel guilty about my impulsive buy.:o). Wonder if we could leave the heat off now we're into March?!?
Updated spending diary/budget for February. We spent £30 petrol in the other car, £140 in my car and foods spends £267. Really chuffed with the foods spends, although OH went to sburys this morning and started off March spends, spent £16.
Have done some ironing this morning, had a lovely cooked breakfast, not sure what's for tea/dinner.
A couple of problems have come up with the cars, my car has developed a 'steering problem' and a 'knocking noise' really need to get it looked at. OH noticed on the other car there is a screw in the newest tyre.:(
One step forward, two back.

Today was NSD2. We haven't had the heating on either. But I will be putting the heated airier on tonight.
I had to wash DS3s bedding this morning (I should of pegged it out this morning). He had a little 'accident' last night, OH got up and stripped the bed about 3.00am this morning (for which I was very grateful), but then left the wet bedding on the landing and the carpet was wet this morning! He also said he forgot to remind DS to go toilet before he got into bed. All sorted now, I didn't make a big thing about it.
Tomorrow I'm going to have to get petrol and I'll go to @ldi and stock up with the things we get from there. I have a £5 off £40 shop that has to be used by tomorrow.
