  • You could try shopping around I guess. A friend of mine managed to get a £2k repair job down to around £800 by ringing a few places. If it needs to be done in order for you to work then it's worth it, but what a rotten thing to happen. :grouphug:

Edit: Oh dear, I'd forgotten how dodgy that hug was. :rotfl:

Am reluctant to shop around really as there are so many cowboy garages out there and though expensive these have always fitted us in straight away..we've tried other garages in the past who've either done shoddy work or kept the cars days and days on end...luckily we have the money put away and it's tax deductible but still a lot of money.

Nothing much to report here.Took a walk to the DRs and back earlier and picked up the diazepam. It's not far up the road but felt like miles away.
I need to pick hubby up at garage tomorrow after he drops the car off and have an appointment in the afternoon with my psychologist.
Got loads of paperwork to do so must start getting on with it as it's annoying me.
Had a lovely dinner today of Skrie cod, mash potato, carrots and mushy peas with cheese sauce..it was delicious

It sounds very delicious ... Sounds like the diet is going well also, how's things with the psychologist now ? Your sounding more positive taxi ... Always great to see :)
  • You're right, a reliable garage that you trust is worth more than the potential saving that comes with increased risk I think. I'm really nervous about finding a new mechanic up here, as I have no idea who is good and who is dodgy. My car is a total shed though, so it's not like they could devalue it a significant amount. :)

Your dinner sounds looovely. I wish I was having that.

Dinner was fab..the skrie was a rare treat as so expensive and is only available 4 months of the year.
I don't envy you trying to find a decent mechanic. We have tried others one was only slighter cheaper and did a service and a few days later we found the brake pads totally worn as the discs started making a noise!!!..other places just hang on to the car fixing when they can be bothered.
At the dealers the work is guaranteed and when we want the brakes etc looking at/doing we just turn up and they do them straight away whilst waiting.
It's just easier that way as car off road means no earnings.
