Thinking of you as ever, taxi. All my positive vibes are being sent your way.:kisses3:

Just had a very upsetting phone call from my younger brother (who lives a long way from me and who I haven't seen for about a year) to say they have discovered cancer in his bladder and he has been fast-tracked to have the cancer removed on 27th (the day after Boxing Day). He'll be in hospital until early in the New Year. He didn't have any symptoms whatsoever until he passed some blood in his urine a few weeks ago and went to the GP for some antibiotics as he thought it was just a urinary infection. When it didn't clear up after 2 courses he had some other tests etc and the cancer was discovered so full marks to the hospital for getting onto it and doing something about it so quickly. The scary thing to me is that he must have had it growing there unbeknown to anyone for ages as he said it looked huge on the screen. It makes me feel very vulnerable somehow when I think what may be going on in our bodies that we have no idea about .

Sorry to hijack your thread, taxi. Only came on here today to wish you well and send you my continuing best wishes and thoughts. Yours is the first diary I read whenever I come on MSE and although I don't 'know' you I have always followed your story with great interest and admiration. You've been (and are) an inspiration to me in so many ways that you'll never know. Keep fighting, taxi:T

Popping in to wish you well taxi! I think ZTD summarises things well and if you can get that part of your brain to take over, his advice will help you.

So sorry to hear this.It must've come as a shock to all of you.I hope his op goes well..they usually do do these quickly as they have guidelines that it has to be done within so many days for diagnosis..the same goes for chemo and rads x

Well what a day tuesday decided to be...sigh

I was booked in to see oncology psychologist for 10am and felt quite positive.
Was up showered and dressed early and went to PO to post christmas cards and do banking and then on to hospital arriving in good time intending afterwards having my bloods took from picc line and maybe attempting some bits of food shopping if not too tired on way back.
Onc pysch appt went ok and as expected no miracle cure to get me in chemo room....he agreed my thinking is logical etc etc...he's popping in to see me in chemo on thursday and is writing to my gp and thinks I'd benefit from anti depressants and sleepers..am going to see if the lorazepam works..he said the same as ZTD that I'll feel better once having done the thing I feared

I then had to wait over an hour to have my bloods taken where the nurse noticed my picc line arm was very discoloured and hard so she said I had to see a DR but one wasn't due on for another hour...he was then 15 mins late and when he saw me said I needed a linograph to check no blood clots in my line....
queue nurse trying to find right dept and then leaving them phone message, them eventually returning it,waiting for porter to take me,scan and report being done, waiting for porter again back up to chemo ward, waiting for nurse to see it and take it to DRs for him to say line is fine and to keep close eye on it and if it gets hot or I get temp have to go in as emergency as may be cellulitis....
Eventually left hospital at nearly 5pm and final insult parking cost me £5.50 as couldn't find a parking space on the free bit that I can use permit

Was that exhausted I fell asleep at 7.30pm last night and got up at 3.30 am again
