Oh dear I did chortle, sorry. I just had visions of bedding flying everywhere and a wee fellow sat in middle of the bed with his cup of horlicks

In all honesty you have my sympathy we get mice in the house every year (the rats move into the burrows in the lawn every winter forcing the mice out)

Worst winter we caught 15  Oh and they always seem to suddenly race round bathroom when I sit on the loo :rotfl:

    What a welcome home!

I thought it was bad enough to have mice in the loft. I'd really freak if I found one in the drawer.

We've bought a couple of those sonic mouse deterrents, one plug in and one battery operated. We've not had any further mice for a few weeks, so they may actually work

  • SueP19, I think you pictured it perfectly. A bed has never been stripped so quickly :rotfl:

No mice found but we think we know how they got in - they must have had a field day :o

    Mousetraps purchased and in place.

Evening Mr E, it's quite a surprise to have money left after payday. I'm so used to shuffling everything away even Mr T is surprised to find cash sitting there. We are back on a minimal spending mission now. All extra funds are being squirrelled away for Future.

It really was difficult coming back to the UK, although it has been a glorious day.

Watty, I am mega stressed about how many mice we may have in the house. The cats came home today and have been miaowing in our bedroom, not a good sign :p

Greent, DD said the same about the dog. Sadly, she was at the front of the Tilly walking line and it was a huge shock. Even DS dreamt about it. Taking her to the vets did, in some way, make it easier to deal with. She is making good progress, I had a pic from a friend today :T

Fitbit has now synced. Better late than never. I need to get back into the habit of wearing it daily. We are off for a long dog walk in the morning which should help.

Money - claimed just under £15 from TCB. I'm saving all cash on our Portuguese supermarket card - will see that for next Christmas. PC, £9 claimed. Mr T did a product test whilst we were away - all helps.

All gifts have been well received and nothing needs to be returned etc.

Right, early night is beckoning. Tilly x x x

  • Just catching up re Mice ... made me laugh ... and reminded me of when Mum and I went to caravan after winter months, opened door and saw some bird seed on kitchen floor, wondering how that had got there, everything else was just how we had left it. Then we opened the cupboards below the kitchen sink, well the mice had made themselves at home, they had bird seed, fat balls, carrier bags and the foam insulaton you wrap round the pipes all nibbled away to make a lovely home for themselves, then we spotted a tiny hole in the floor.

My mum said "I can just imagine, one mouse finding this shelter for the winter going back to his friends, whistling, and saying "I've just found us a shelter for the winter, follow me ..." "

Rubber gloves were on, bleach and cloths out, Pots, pans, frying and chip pan all thrown away, insulation for pipes renewed and teeny tiny hole covered. Thank goodness they had everything they needed under the sink, would hate to think of the damage done otherwise, but we were very lucky as everything else was just as we left it - perfect.

Just imagine had you been away for a long period.

Wishing you and your family all the very best for a healthy and happy 2016 when it comes.

  • Glad you had a good Christmas, but what a shock with the mice! When I was a student my flatmate got a pot noodle out of the cupboard, and said it was a bit light. He put it on the surface and the mice had nibbled through the foil and eaten the whole thing! We found a proper Tom and Jerry style mouse hole in the skirting under the stairs as well! I've used the sonic deterants since and they were great! Hope you get them gone soon...

Hope you all have a great New Year!
  • HAPPY NEW YEAR to Clan Tilly :D

Looking forward to hearing all about your new adventures, utilising old tricks and new learnings along the way in 2016. Thanks for continuing to be such an inspiration, and an all-round caring, good natured and thoughtful person to boot :D

Hope 2016 is ushered in by the *clack* of mousetraps :D Reminds me of the time I was renting a room in a rambling rented farmhouse in winter. Something was amiss in the bedroom, but couldn't quite put my finger on it...... until I spotted the obligatory mouse p00 on the pillow :rotfl: Can laugh about it now, but at the time...........
