  • Hi Lula, thanks for posting :). It's causing rumpus for Mr T and the kids which in itself is a lesson :rotfl: The kids like to know what's coming, Mr T likes to know he doesn't have to think about it.

Tomorrow night will be veg chilli in wraps, with a small salad.

This little challenge also means I won't go to the shops in between my weekly shop. This could be fun :rotfl:

Hope things are going well with you all.

    Best wishes Tilly x

Getting carried away with all these posts talking about retirement - that'd be nice *wonders if we could win the lottery and retire by 45* ;)

Sometimes meal planning's not all it's cracked up to be! I've meal planned to the nth degree with the students to feed too and tonight they've come home having eaten McMucky and saying they're having a group BBQ tonight so don't want dinner! Sometimes the flexibility of saying, how many are we tonight or who fancies lettuce? is preferable and it definitely does save that food bill by being inventive with what you have.
Think you're right to take the break from it Tilly. Hope you and Mr. T had a good hounds and head-space time. x

Wouldn't that be lovely - an MfW win and all the mortgages cleared in one go :rotfl:

I alternate between wanting to retire and do nothing or work less and gain some time.

Evening Habibiboo, the air smells glorious - you really can't beat a good walk with the hounds racing around. Not many people about and we had time to chat.

Life seems to be racing by at such a pace it's hard to keep up.

Not menu planning seems quite rebellious to me - although what I'm rebelling against is unclear. I guess like many of us the daily drudge of work, kids, homes, stuff takes its toll and whilst I don't feel in the least bit miserable, I want to give my brain some downtime :)

I'm having a relatively early night and looking forward to a good walk early in the morning.

    Night. Tilly x x

Morning, hounds walked - beautiful day. Sun is shining and the air is clean and fresh :)

Quite a few DDs have left the bank account this morning. Looks slightly sad but this is going to be a frugal month and I think all will be well. I've moved extra money into savings as soon as I was paid and the same for Mr T so the bank account really is quite bare.

I do need to check when the credit card DDs go out - I will put the dates on the calendar as I can never remember.

    Have a good day, Tilly x x

ETA: all DD dates on calendar which synchs to devices with a reminder 2 days before to move money from offset pots :)

DD spoke to me tonight - "we need a menu plan - this is too frustrating not knowing what to take out of the freezer ". I laughed so hard :rotfl:

She's asked me to do one before the weekend :). That will be a no - I have no time between now and then, this weekend is rammed, it will have to wait until the next weekend.

Just goes to show how much we all use it, not just me

I'm having 30 mins of peace and quiet. Kids out, Mr T is out and then I've got a work call for an hour.

    Night all,

Oh dear. It's amazing what chaos can result when the organiser in the family takes some time out :) I do lists for shopping and to-do tasks and have been called a sargeant major a good few times in the past!. When I went away for 2 weeks a few years ago I came back to doubles of milk, bread etc that had to be frozen before it all went off..lol The housework was half done and no-one had put the bins out on week 2. Not one of my lot have complained about my lists and organisation since!

Having said that I tried your menu planning and spreadsheets when you sent me them last year Tilly, and I couldn't keep it going. Living between my and my partners houses is really tricky cos sometimes I stay extra days at his cos of work committments and the stuff I planned for tea is in the other house! Will be easier to do it when we have only one house.. especially with his 3 freezers and my one!! Yep, a 4 freezer family will be our reality lol
