cardiffmatch wrote: »Hi Tilly - just thought I'd stop in and say thank you... I spotted on another thread your advice to do a freezer and larder audit each month and then hit the menu planning. Such a great and simple idea; cutting down on our food costs and our food wastage is a big part of both our MFW plan and my "new job, lower income" plan so this sensible idea will help enormously.
Of course, we've only had a larder for about three months and the freezer only starting looking respectably well stocked about this time last week, but that's another story!

Hi CM, glad to help - I think there's huge scope to reduce expenditure by controlling food spend - loads more pennies to OP :T

Morning Brizzle, they're fab aren't they. I'm off this weekend to look for bargainous chocolate to have a go :T
Mr T is applying for roles daily but it is definitely not a quick or easy process. There's a job with his name on it, he just needs to find it. There are three roles he is particularly interested in and he's an excellent fit for, but no progress at the moment. It's definitely like a roller coaster with high expectations and then dropping.
Overall though he is in good spirits still and keeping busy. Decorating is starting next week

The £400 saving from house insurance is going into Xmas savings pot
Council tax has been paid by credit card - this is working very well and is 'easy to earn' cash back (providing they don't charge more for using CC - some do). CC is DD in full each month:)
Kids are off for the weekend and back late Sunday afternoon. I have vouchers for free cinema on Sundays from choc packs bought months ago, on special offer with staff discount. We will all go when they return home - will buy nibbles from L!dl to take with me.
Mr T and I had a tactical T shop the other evening - I go there so rarely and will only go now, if there are vouchers to use, which makes it worthwhile. We had a very chatty lady scanning the shopping. She wasn't certain about letting us use a £2 voucher; checked with her lovely supervisor who agreed - was the right product but in a promotional pack with loads of extra goodies, in the reduced section.
Then she managed to charge me for something I hadn't bought - I saw the lovely supervisor on the way out who gave me DTD and multiple apologies
Enough smiley faces - it's Friday already and I'd better get cracking.
Decided to work from home today and all next week - too many calls.
Best wishes, Tilly x2004 £387k 29 years - MF March 2033:eek:
