I do have some fish to use up next week though, so fancy trying a fish curry.
You are doing well with your TTs. Now that you have a lodger, you can up the stakes to quids instead of pennies (or should it be pence?).
Want an authentic recipe for fish curry? Here it is.
It's a bit complicated though as you have to make the coconut paste in the blender. Drumsticks (of the variety shown in pic) may be difficult to find in your neighbourhood, but if you do not have tamarind you can squirt a bit of HP sauce or He1nz tomato ketchup.
Have a good weekend!

I want a fish curry now. Well, not now obviously as it's breakfast time, but later
.

I think a fish curry would be really tasty - I can imagine a Thai green curry with some cheap white fish (pollock or tillapia or similar). Mrs E is now very keen on Thai curries after I discovered that the paste can be homemade and freezes very well0

Morning US, free food ordered
. I've got most of the ingredients for the fish curry, except the tamarind berries - I've got tamarind paste though so could use that I guess?
Will check with my lodger to see if he likes curries, and fishif not we will have a go and he will have to have a HM pinged chilli
Morning GG, I planted two fruit trees a few weeks ago and one of those has turned into a twig tree, instead of a beautifully leaf clad tree. The other one is doing well - I am wondering whether I kept the receipt.
Weather is grey up here, with a brisk wind - hopefully the washing will dry quickly
I have to go and do battle with a shop as I need to return an expensive item which is proving not to be up to standard. I really hate doing things like this and Mr T has a tendency to become very cross, extremely quickly with poor service, so I can just imagine the fun. Fingers crossed it goes well.
As we did a Costc@ shop last night, Mr T and DS are popping into L!dl for a bit of greenery and that's the shopping complete.
I still have not finished a menu plan for the month, so limping by with weekly ones, but it definitely increases the food bill.
Ironing is finished and two frog type jobs on the list today - financials and inventories of larder and freezer. As the garage is car boot city still, it's difficult to move around, so may leave the inventory until tomorrow. Mr T has told me that he and DS are getting up in the early hours tomorrow for the car boot, providing DD and I walk over for 7.30 am with coffee and sandwiches. That's a deal

Thanks Mr E, I've never made a Thai sauce from scratch, so can check that out too. got some lemon grass in the freezer to use up though.
I have enough fish for 3 meals for 5 people and want to use it up in the next two weeks, as it's been in there a while.
Have you been out for a drive on your own yet?

Not yet. Mrs E's Mum is still very kindly letting us have her own car, but imagine it will be 5-6 weeks before we get it. She is off on holiday for a fortnight, so will need to get back before she finds a new one.
I will also be sitting Pass Plus lessons. At £138 for 6 hours, it seemed a great way to get motorway and rural experience (plus maybe a few ££ off my insurance premium)So I will still be driving until we get our own wheels, shouldn't get too rusty.

Good luck with the shop return Tilly - I had to do this just the other week, as OH had bought me an expensive bag just before Christmas which pretty much fell apart within 6 months. He is very non-confrontational, so when we arrived at the shop he very quickly disappeared with all the children, leaving me to battle with the shop assistant. Luckily they were helpful and when they realised I would not back down and accept a credit note, they were happy to give me a refund!November 2007 £570k 25 years - MF March 2033

Here's my favourite fish curry in a hurry recipe: http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/4666/superquick-fish-curry?beta=1&utm_expid=13353178-7&utm_referrer=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bbcgoodfood.com%2Fsearch.do%3Fkeywords%3Dfish%2Bcurry%26filterItem%3D%26filterItem%3D%26filterItem%3D%26filterItem%3D%26filterItem%3D%26filterItem%3D%26filterItem%3D%26filterItem%3D%26filterItem%3D%26filterItem%3D
Any fish or seafood works.

Hope you are all relaxing in your gardens/patios/balconies in this warm weather.
Tilly, yes you can use tamarind paste instead of dried fruit in the fish curry.
FS, you could try adding a can of coconut milk or P@tak's creamed coconut dissolved in water to the curry and it will taste yummy and not too hot.
I have a small question to the broad-bean growers. If I remember correctly, Tilly you planted broadbeans, right? I have a few broadbean plants 2-3 feet high, lots of pink-and-black flowers but no beans. Do I hand-pollinate them or am I too late? TIA for the replies.Mortgage: @ Feb. 2007: £133,200; Apr. 2011: £24,373; May 2011: £175,999; Jun 2013: ~£97K; Mar. 2014 £392,212.73; Dec. 2015: £327,051.77; Mar. 2016: ~£480K; Mar. 2017 £444,445.74
