Morning,

37p TT OP this morning. I must have similar amounts coming out of the bank as 37p seems very familiar.

Mr T and DS enjoyed the free film last night. We've also had a huge B&M open up, brilliant for bottled water for lunch boxes, tinned tuna 4 cans in brine £3.62 (price from memory but sure that was right)

Mr T also dropped into the dreaded T supermarket, as I wasn't with him. He picked up two packs of haddock fillets, £8.50 and £7.50 reduced to £2.80 and £1.80. Fantastic bargain, now safely hidden in the freezer. Plus DD bought bread reduced to 40/50p for lovely loaves, now frozen. Whilst I can't say that everything we buy is bargainous, I'm doing my best to buy/freeze or buy/cook/freeze as much bargainous stuff as possible.

DD also came home with two bargainous cooked chickens. All the meat has been removed, the carcasses put into the freezer ready for chicken soup. Menu plan changed for today to chicken risotto and tomorrow to chicken and mushroom pie with file pastry topping. Two chicken salads for me and DD and chicken sandwiches for DS for lunch today.

I can safely say we would be struggling if these bargains dried up. Possibly I am cutting my nose off to spite my face by not wanting to shop in Tesc@. Fortunately Mr T is still bargain hunting occasionally.

We need to reign things in, through March, as I unexpectedly have a hotel to pay for in July which is going to be expensive. I suggested to M T that we stayed with friends, but he would prefer a hotel. So austerity is back.

Off to have a cuppa now.

Sounds like some good bargains there Tilly, how on earth do you keep finding room in the freezer? do you have the freezer equivalent of a tardis?

Do you remember Dawn, in Wales I think? I always used to wonder whether her freezer had rubber sides, and I feel exactly the same way about ours. Being a spreadsheet nutter though, I have a spreadsheet telling me what is in which drawer, and i menu plan from that. It means the freezer is always neat, plus I worked through a lot of the freezer contents in January and February, so it needed replenishing :)

Morning Calfuray, I honestly believe, with the journey ahead of us, we couldn't do it without us all being on board.

The kids really do think about what they are asking for or buying, and I don't mean to make out they are perfect, they are normal kids, but I am really proud of them.

All the stuff we are eb@ying which was theirs, the money is being OPd, they don't want it back. In fact DS said last night 'we still have too much stuff Mum, I'll sort through my DVDs on Saturday' - WHAT A LOVELY YOUNG MAN

    Best wishes, Tilly x

Don't think we are Pollyanna like though, we have our arguments just like any family. I guess because we have included them from the beginning, it's really a family challenge.

I am pretty proud of our kids as they have made a big adjustment too but it's been worth it.

The biggest thing I am enjoying is watching the control which both kids have of their money now. The car boot which we do will be split three ways (if we find more stuff to car boot ). DS wants to put his towards a new wireless headset, DD is saving towards driving lessons (I've saved the money for those but not told her yet) and Mr T and I are saving for some work being done this year on the house. Although the car boot is not likely to raise much, it's the fact that we are doing it.

Loft emptying starts on Saturday morning :eek:
