  • Hi Sillyinthepast, that's an excellent idea and I've just looked up a recipe and I have all the ingredients :T

OriginalMiscellany, I'm very grateful for the garage and there are times when I'm shoe horning tins into gaps.

Menu plan complete, food plan takes into consideration the evenings out we have planned. Looks like we can make it through to the end of January. I should be able to defrost the freezer early in February and can then restock for Spring. What a lovely thought - daffodils then tulips - reminds me I need to get the raised bed plans done. I had done some planning but I'm going to switch things round a bit. Soon be putting the potatoes in :)

  • You sound very organised there, Tilly. :)

  • Thanks to Natty, I am having a juiced breakfast. Oranges, an apple and frozen blueberries. I have quite a lot of HG fruit in the freezer so will work my way through that for breakfasts.

It's extremely rough and windy here today. Volunteering could be fun as we will be outside for a couple of hours

I have some more ironing to crack on with so will start shortly.

Menu plan is on the wall in the kitchen, today we are having turkey and ham pie which is my favourite and the main reason I bought a turkey crown :)

S&S completed yesterday - we needed paracetamol so that was the only purchase.

We do have an expensive New Years Eve coming up but from the entertainment budget so covered.

As Mr T loves cooking, food shopping becomes a hobby so the next few weeks will be an interesting challenge. I am thinking of changing the budget as well, backing out spends on staples that I will be bulk buying and reducing the weekly spend. I guess now the kids are older we are probably the equivalent of 5 adults (when we have a lodger) with a budget of £80 per week. I'll have to play around with the budget for a few weeks and see what's possible. In 2013 as I am doing a spending diary for the whole year, I will have a more accurate view and can fine tune the budget. Mr T makes loads of different breads so that saves money also. The other change is portion size - again will help the budget.

Right I need to crack on. Mr T is having a lie in so I'm off to make tea and clean the kitchen.

Have a good day, Tilly x

Now I want juice for breakfast too! Sounds like you've done really well getting your menu planning done. In a couple of days time I should be able to to a freezer inventory but I've got some other MSE things to finish first.

    Hope volunteering goes well.

  • Morning GG, what you need is a glass of juiced 'stuff' for breakfast.

Glass of OJ and 3 cups of tea has done the trick :D.

  • Evening, thanks to Sillyinthepast I now have two jars of lime marmalade. It's also a close friends birthday next week who loves everything 'home made', so I plan to give one to her with a couple of jars of Xmas type chutneys DD and I made.

Volunteering had to be postponed until tomorrow as we had some sad news early this morning. However we are taking DD to work early tomorrow and will get off shortly afterwards :)

It's quite liberating not shopping. The fridges are slowly emptying and we have cleaned loads of kitchen cupboards out today. Two left to do and then we are sorted.

Lodgers money will be in tomorrow so will OP first thing.

I'm really looking forward to NYE and feeling enthused about 2013 - wishing everyone a Happy New Year.
