  • Thanks Ammonite, Mr T and I have spoken about the car boot and would rather get rid of the stuff than bring it home again. We will have eb@y and Preloved piles, then car boot, then charity shop. What does not sell at the CB will go to the CS - that makes me sound quite bad wanting to try and sell first, rather than donating but we need the funds to OP. I know I have some bedding and pictures which can go.

Certainly will share recipes - once I have the menu plan I will post up and let me know what you are interested in.

Enjoy the little bit of sun whilst it lasts - if you have any yet :)

  • Morning Caz, well done on your recent bout of selling - you have reminded me that I have more toys in the loft from DS. Will get up there as well.

Yep, I am on FB so PM me any details. I haven't tried selling in there before so that's a first potentially.

Btw, have you tried the butcher delivery yet?

    Have a good day, Tilly x x

Not yet, but I don't need anything from them yet - last time I went I got 3 week's worth of meat. Should be next week, or perhaps the week after. I'll report on my diary when it happens :)

I will pm you now x

  • You could always give eb@y a go for the bathroom cabinets - I've sold one or two big items there, and a friend gets rid of all her old furniture on eb@y! If you are not keen to sell below a certain price you can always set a reserve so you know your nice cabinets won't sell for 99p. And set a collection only for the delivery option so you just get people who are happy to collect.

I am amused by everyone who has piles of things for eb@y, car boot etc - my house is just the same! I have a big worktop in my utility room with piles of stuff to pass on to sister, charity shop, clothes recycling, nearly new sale, eb@y etc. The challenge for all of us I think will be to actually get rid of these piles and then we will have truly decluttered!

Have a good day. I have an unexpected morning of childcare so am hoping to make a dent in the to do list.

  • Good luck with the boot sale. Fingers crossed for good weather, and easily opening wallets!

Just wondering if you'd mind giving me an idea of what you put in your hampers for friends/mum and how you package them? Like the idea, but never done it so inspiration much appreciated!

Good going on the vouchers, I've only got into them in the last couple of months and you can make some great savings. It is time consuming though, as it needs careful planning. I've put mine somewhere and can't remember where! Off to check basket of doom...

Tilly the fact you want to sell at a car boot rather than donate to a charity shop doesn't make you bad at all! Charity begins at home in my book but equally, I give to charities throughout the year (items and money). Don't feel bad at all.

My most amazing eBay sale was a book case from Ikea. We had it 2 years, it was like new and I had hoped for about £40 (was £75 new) was offered £25 on a Facebook selling page but decided to stick it out and see what eBay had to offer. Sold it for £75, which was about £65 after fees and deductions. I was absolutely delighted! I set it as collection only.

My parents also sold their conservatory on eBay - mainly so that someone would take it down for them but they got a few hundred quid for it too and saved them work and a skip :D Amazing what you can sell on there!!!

For my nan's a few years ago I made some up, one had hers in a lovely whicker basket, the other in a leather magazine holder. They each got a cushion and a fleece blanket, a mug, a puzzle book, some posh tea bags, biscuits and chocolate, bath stuff that they wouldn't normally buy and some other things that I can't remember. The best bit of the day was when the presents kept coming as I had wrapped them all individually, they didn't think they deserved it all but it had probably cost less than the presents I normally got them. This way they didn't get a cluttered house and had stuff they would actually use.

    Hi MW, hamper details :)

Mother: all individually wrapped as AJ describes, as she has loads of fun unwrapping :T. This year:
4 x Pears soap in a dispenser - easy for her hands to use and less chance of dropping into the water and trying to fish it out as she can't see well
Plum jams as they are her favourite and not always available where she lives
Plain chocolate - smallest bars available but about 12 bars. That means every week she can have a few pieces.
2 beautiful hand creams, one for her handbag, one for by the side of her bed :)
Foot moisturiser and two pairs of cosy fluffy bed socks - she has no-one to warm her feet in now and suffers with cold feet
A bottle of Tia Maria - any excuse for a tipple
Vouchers for a shop she uses
Two lip gloss type lipsticks - no real colour mainly to moisturise
A necklace to go with a sweater she has, which I know she wants to cheer up
That it for now but there will be a few tins of 'special' goodies - biscuits, chocolates, soups and a Xmas cake. All of these are small sizes though, as she gives them away if anyone gives her large boxes :)

Girlfriend: an art colour book and a new set of colouring pencils, 3 different moisturising/beauty sets which have been freebies Elemis, Champneys, sanctuary. Herbal tea, sample of her favourite handcream. Samples of a different herbal tea that I know she hasn't tried but will like. To be added: box of home made truffles, small HM Xmas cake and sloe gin made last year

I pack my mom's stuff in a wicker basket which gets recycled each year - currently on 4th year. I dress it with a different colour festive ribbon and bow each year and then cover with clear wrap - not su what that's called over here. I used it years ago when I lived abroad and buy when its on offer in L!dl/Ald!.

For my girlfriend, I use a variety of boxes - this year it is in a fab wine wooden wine box which I picked up from a wine shop - they were chucking them out so I asked if I could purloin one :). I bought shredded tissue paper from the JLewis sale, so that will be on the bottom, and topped with tissue paper and clear wrap.

I hope you found the coupons in your basket of doom :):)

    Best wishes Tilly x

  • What lovely ideas Tilly. So much thought has obviously gone into them which will make them very special presents. Perhaps cellophane is the clear wrap that you use?
