Very well done Miss T :j:j:j

Hopefully Miss T will have a super relaxed sleep tonight rather then being hyper and conking out like she did last night :p

Congratulations Miss T :T Hope you had a lovely evening celebrating :)
  • Hi everyone, fab evening, great meal, feel quite weary now. Must be post result dip :)

Miss T has gone to bed, happy and excited about the next two years - great to watch the excitement and determination of the young folk :)

Entertainment savings pot looking a little empty now but that is exactly what it is there for.

Thanks for all your kind comments - I have read them all out to her. Thank you to all teachers on behalf of the GCSE crew, hard work and dedication on both sides I think. DD has had some really great teachers to work with (and a couple who really need a career change) and they have inspired and challenged her during the last two years.

Right, new chapter opening now and back on the MSE wagon.

Best wishes to all, Tilly x

I think teachers can make or break a student, of course some you click with more than others but some are in the wrong profession. Glad you had a good night :)
  • Good morning, next challenge. Between now and next pay day, I want to spend under £120 on food. This really means fruit, veg, milk as well stocked with everything else. I believe £30 per week is achievable. That gives me £240 OP by the end of the month. Plus it allows me to reduce some of my stocks. I want to do an AF purchase around late October/November to cover the winter months and won't make a purchase until existing stocks are lower.

My fruit trees in the garden are doing very well and have two types of plums sufficient for the next two weeks, plus apples.

Certainly don't need to buy salad for weeks still and we have recently planted more seeds to take us through October/November. I use cloches to keep them warm/growing as the weather turns.

I cleaned two fridges yesterday and the "use the stuff up in jar" challenge has worked very well.

More to add shortly, just need to stop for a cuppa

  • Wow two types of plums and apples to boot... that's good.

Our plum tree is still quite small - last year we had a 3 plum crumble but this year it managed to produce 8 plums so we had more than a spoon full each crumble!

  • After the euphoria yesterday, things are settling down at our home too.

Tilly, what are the varieties of plums you have planted? I have planted a Victoria plum tree this year and am planning to add another variety next year. My apple trees have been vandalised and so many unripe apples wasted. Some youngsters are just so cheeky that they consider everything a prank, even destroying other people's stuff. Still, I have gathered a few apples from another tree for making crumble/pies this weekend. They have small brown spots this year, must have been some fly infestation.

  • Hi US, we have an Avalon And Coes Golden Drop - I can recommend both. They have been in around 4 years now and crop well.

We have a cherry tree but it has done nothing for the last two years.

The apple tree is Chivers Delight and bears a lot of fruit normally, this year I would say we have 70% of last years volume.

I have had a lot of problems with black fly, greenfly this year. This year the produce we grow hasn't been in the same quantities and my tomatoes are worse than average. Still edible but reduced quality/quantity. Having checked with relatives who are more than keen veg growers, everyone seems to be experiencing similar issues.

Sorry to hear about e tree vandals, that is really frustrating.

    Best wishes Tilly x
