Good morning, sun is shining, sky is watery blue, but after the rain we had yesterday it is glorious. Lots of gardening jobs on the schedule this afternoon.

Yesterday was definitely a Rupert Bear adventure, we set off with me expecting to see the sea, but Mr Tilly had quietly chosen a beautiful reservoir - not quite the sea, but it was fab. We walked for hours (dogs too) and only when we got into the car, did the rain start. We also took the dogs to a forest near ish to where we live, but one they haven't been to before. They loved it. To see dogs running free is a beautiful sight - not a person to be seen, however, we didn't miss the rain late afternoon and we were all soaked. One of the dogs decided to have a bath in a muddy puddle - she was almost smiling with glee but boy was she a mess  We had to hose her off at home as she was caked in mud :rotfl:

I keep forgetting to add that each month I OP the H@lifax reward money, just another quiet OP. Mr Tilly and I spoke last night about all the small OPs and I added up over £300 of small OPs during the course of the last few months, could be £2, 20p etc but it's a direct reduction to the outstanding balance each time :)

I am off to cook an English breakfast - a very rare occurrence but we are volunteering for the morning and I don't want to take a picnic or make lunch when we come back. This way we can manage with a piece of fruit or two, until we go for our Group@n meal this evening.

Pay day in two weeks :T:T

Weren't the games amazing last night - Mr Tilly and I sat with tears in our eyes. To have the privilege to watch such well tuned, focussed individuals striving to win was brilliant. A night to remember on home ground

Hope everyone has a good day.

We have been motoring since my previous post. We had forgotten it was the tennis finals this afternoon, so early breakfast eaten, then straight out into the garden, old stuff pulled out, beds weeded and a few things harvested. Lovely turnips ready so will use in a Moroccan dish this week. Mr Tilly is vacuuming whilst I am sat with iPad and cup of tea, then we will switch and I can steam mop the floors downstairs. Having two dogs is a bother at times. I use tea tree oil drops directly on the floor and then steam - removes the smell of dogs, which actually I like, but I don't want it to overpower visitors :)

Need to crack on as we a volunteering at 1015 and on the way back, we will pop into Homeb@se to see what they have to pop into two pots.

Washing blowing on the line now, but ominous black cloud approaching - perfect August weather - roll on April 2016 :T

If anyone can hear shouting and screaming its probably me watching the tennis:rotfl:

Great bargains at HB this afternoon, bargainous climbers plus 15% off:T

Volunteering finished, washing dried, plants planted, lawn cut. We have had a fab weekend and it would be great to see Murray win.

Menu replanned and freezer reorganised. Bargainous shopping does put a strain on the freezer and it's pretty full at the moment. Doesn't look like I will need much shopping over the next few weeks, apart from fruit, a little veg and milk.

Now time to sit enjoying the tennis and putting my feet up.

    Have a good afternoon.

Morning, grey sky and rain - at least I will be at work and won't see it.

Loved the Olympics yesterday and the meal out was excellent. It's the first time of using a Group@n meal deal and was well worth it.

Lodger money OPd. I need to make some lunch to take with me today and we are off to take the dogs for a walky/run in 45 minutes.

I am beginning to feel that I am on a wheel going round and round, and can't get off. Not a good thought, but thank goodness we had a lovely weekend.

Have a good day, Tilly x

  • Morning, £1.79 tidied from bank account to mortgage :). All helps.

NSD yesterday and another planned for today. This evening we will do the financials, ie sort receipts, check credit card statements etc. DD for CC come out for the full balances each month, so I need to shift some money about. We deliberately only have a small OD facility :). Previously we lived on an OD all the time, and that is not happening again.

Salmon out of the freezer for this evening, with salad and new potatoes. Tomorrow will be a hotch potch salad as we are away on Thursday and Friday, so I am using all the left overs up in a salady type affair - could be interesting :). (bit of chicken, 1 egg, couple of rashers of bacon, 2 sausages).

Sadly dogs are not walked this morning, we will have to take them for a longer walk this evening. Hope everyone is enjoying the Olympics

    Best wishes Tilly x

  • Bank, credit card statements sorted - can't spend any money really until payday - not sure how that will work. Using a spending diary for the next couple of months to see where extra funds are disappearing to. It is a constant effort to stay on top of everything.

Thankfully freezer and cupboards are full, plenty of salad in the garden with tomatoes beginning to improve.

Having a very tired moment so please someone, kick me up the jacksy and tell me we are doing the right thing. Running away and hiding in a corner sounds more attractive right now.

  • Just checked Economy Gastronomy on Amazon and £4.05 used (I have £1.50 in my account already) so I might treat myself. I'm just so bored of my usual left-over recipies at the moment.

Good news you have home-grown salad and maybe toms. All that's grown for us this year is onions but I'm holding out for the marrows to perk up aswell! The over-winter stuff is looking OK though.
