can we pool together ideas just in case we have missed anything, i have been checking dog trust and notice rory is all over the internet so how come we can't find him?
let see if we have missed something
1 dog trust and other home had been informed
    2 all local papers
    3 police
    4 dog warden
    5 schools and club
    6 facebook
    7 postmen etc
    what about golf courses?
were was he last seen do we have a map and we could start ringing round shops etc
    I am happy to help.
I think somebody has found him and taken him in .
a few years ago i found a dog in high st she had got out in a thunder storm i put lead on and tried to walk her home but gave up. I rang the police and two hours later the parents came for her , she was a black and white cross , then about a week later i get a call from police telling me they had found my white westie ? so i would start again , if we got a list of emails we could send the a picture.

All done Almond, and even the snooty golf courses round here have posters up. I call and email every day to the authorities, that's when they're not phoning me that is. The lady from Nairn council calls me every morning as soon as she gets to work to see if I've heard anything and to tell me they haven't had anything in overnight, which is sweet of her.

The forestry commision, pubs, SSPCA, dog homes all alerted within a 40 mile radius. Flyers through peoples doors and in their faces when they're walking their dogs. Thanks to Chris- gliding people, ramblers, walking associations. Community centres, garages, schools, websites, newspapers, free newspapers. Grampian police, Highland police, nurseries, river walks, on trees in the woods. Takeaways, shops, dog walkers, dog sitters, gamekeepers, -even a few poachers I know, estate managers..I know there's more but my brain is mush.

I hate to be the one to say this..and I know some of you are thinking it-but I feel it's my place as his Mum to say it.

The highland landscape is quite beautiful, but very bleak and covered in vast amounts of trees, and deep heather. My old man has the biggest heart in the world, not once did he ever hurt anyone or anything-apart from the occasional sofa. What if he had ran for so long, and so fast, got to a quiet spot in one of the really wild parts- and there are many up here-decided to lay down for a little sleep and didn't wake up..that big old heart just had had enough?

I'm in tears as I type, but it's something I have had to think about the past couple of days. He couldn't have just vanished. Not my Ruaridh- he loves people (and us) too much, he would go to the first house he could, as he did the last time, to find warmth, food and possibly- me. I'm trying not to picture it. I'm trying to keep in my head that last day when he was chasing deer into the river with a big goofy grin on his face while Bruce shot off in the other direction, he's such a wuss, and Ruars decided he'd rather come with us than chase the deer anymore.

Sorry I'm rambling again, but as his Mummy, and with you all being so patient and caring about him-I felt it was me who had to say it.

sazzy, at this stage, it's only natural you will start thinking like that. I obviously don't know Rory but my own feeling is that although it feels like an age, it's still early days. Even the most domesticated pooch will still have canine instincts that would kick in at times like this. A dog will rummage and forage for scraps of food and will get enough water from puddles and such like.

Sure he's no yappy puppy, but nor is he at the stage of being so frail he would be unable to cope.

I can only imagine just how desolate you must feel right now, but I wouldn't give up hope yet. x

Did you account for the wagging dog the other night, was it the neighbour's?

Oh Aileen, I don't know what to say. Your heart must be breaking and naturally you are thinking all sorts of things. I think there are so many people with love in their hearts wishing as hard as they can for his safe return. I can only send you virtual hugs, although I know they are no help at all.

No Padstow- no one has seen him since either. I showed a picture of him to the people, but they couldn't confirm as he had been down the bottom of the garden, and these gardens down there are huge.

My candle's still lit for him though, and there's an extra one for rising and her Ben tonight.

You know Sazzy, have a look at the doglost site at the dogs who have been reunited. Some have been missing for a long time - 6 months in one case - and been found only this week.

There's always hope when you've not been notified of any accident. You've been tremendously strong throughout this ordeal and I can understand how you're now thinking the worst. They say the darkest hour is just before the dawn...you feel a bit hopeless now but there could be a miracle just around the corner when Ruaridh comes home.

Stay positive a bit longer...there are so many prayers and good wishes for you and Ruaridh.

Oh Sazzy, I feel for you all on your own with the pup and none of your boys there to give you a hug in your time of need.

I know everything is being done that can be done to find him and that people have gone above and beyond what you could possibly expect. :T

You must be both physically and mentally exhausted :(

I know the only words to make you feel any better (news that he ash been found) are ones that I cannot give but please don't give up hope just yet.

    Oh sazzybum.

If Ruaridh has died, he will know exactly how much effort you have put into trying to find him. He will love you all the more.

I don't know what to say. There are no words that will make any difference really.

If you want to try an animal communicator, I will help towards the cost.
