Thanks everyone. I'm very lucky in that my boss is an animal lover and when I told her I wasn't going to be much use, she understood.

Got posters up all over work now. It's hard when people keep coming up to me and asking though- sets me off . Although I am totally grateful for their concern, and their assurances that they'll be looking out for him.

Going to phone the council at 9am (thanks chris/tj for the offer) and the vets again. Rang the police but nothing during the night came in (don't know whether to be happy or sad about that).

    I want him home.

Did the rounds.. Council, police, SSPCA and vets. Nothing so far. Is that a good thing? I know the council probably wouldn't have him yet.

We DO have a dog warden, but he's based in Inverness, that's why I didn't have a clue we had one. He's in Inverness today, but if anyone calls regarding having Ruars then he'll come through and I'll be contacted.

    Waiting game now.

sazzy, print off some posters and ask if the local schools would allow the kids to be given one to take home with them.

I know in our old area, it was always the kids that came across stray dogs. Daughter and pals would bring them to our door or tell us where the dog was seen and we'd end up taking it to the vet or chasing after the thing. (Funny enough the last one was a black lab too but we knew it was our neighbour's that had escaped).

Point is, kids are always out and about more than anyone else and will be in play areas and woods etc that adults might not go to. They also tend to see things like this as a 'mission' and will likely spend time just looking in the hope they find him first.

Do you have a milkman? If so, ask him to keep an eye out...or the postman?

    Hi, and thanks all again.

Ali- thanks for that suggestion- he LOVES children, so I'll get on that.

Zaksmum, I put a poster on my front door so the postman would see it.

Thanks to the generosity of spirit of my colleague who is actually on holiday this week, but is coming in for me, I will be able to have the afternoon off in order to do more searching.

Not able to do much anyway to be honest, just print off more posters/fliers and have a bubble now and again.

Poor pup (Bruce) will be getting his little paws walked off this afternoon :)
